GES Families,
It's time to begin planning and preparing for the 2025-2026 school year! Registration is now open for all new and returning students. We ask that you complete returning student registration before May 16. The earlier you register, the better we can plan as campuses are staffed based on registration numbers. Registering now helps GCISD avoid last-minute hiring or staff relocations when the school year begins.
The following links will help you access registration documents:
Additionally, we value your input as parents to share with us what will help your child to succeed in the next grade level. If you have specific input you would like to share with us, please see the section below regarding parent input for next school year. We will soon begin the process of creating balanced classes for next year and appreciate your thoughts in advance.
While families can register all year long, your quick attention helps us in planning and preparing for the 25-26 school year and ensures a smooth start for all!
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
Next Tuesday, April 15 is Class Picture Day. Glamourcraft will be on campus taking photos of each homeroom class from 8-10am. Families will have opportunity after pictures are taken to see the class pictures and purchase if they would like.
Please note, if families have not given permission in Skyward for their child to be photographed, they will be omitted from the class pictures.
This week, our Book Battle continues with our Week 6 books, Spider in the Well and Mr. Fox's Game of No. We will also be voting to see which book moves on to our finals, Scariest Kitten in the World or Campingland. This book battle is heating up, and the kids can't wait to see who the winners will be!
Friendly reminder that Friday, April 18 is a student and staff holiday.
In the coming weeks, we will begin to develop our class lists for next school year. In creating these lists we take into account district guidelines and keep in mind the need to create a balanced classroom for our GES Stars. This process involves multiple variables. Below you will find some of the variables we will consider as we develop class lists for the 2026-2026 school year:
Gender balance
Academic mix
Personality and learning styles
Peer relationships
Class size
Special needs
The objective is to place all students with a teacher in a balanced class that will support individual learning and growth. At GES, we are very fortunate to have an exceptional group of teachers and staff to work with our students and families.
Families have the optional opportunity to fill out this student class information form. This form will not be used for requesting a teacher, but will give you a chance to share valuable information about your child. There will also be a spot for your child to share. We will NOT be honoring specific teacher requests. The form will be available online to families April 14-May 2. Please complete the sections of the form online with your student.
Final class placement will not be determined until August.
Field Day will be Friday, May 16! We hope you save the date and can join us at some point during the day. Schedules will be sent out as well as permission slips in May.
Coach Basil would love your support in signing up to Volunteer for our event! You must have a completed background check to sign-up.
The final Principal Book Club of the year will be on Wednesday, April 23. Orginally we had reserved this Wednesday, but Mrs. Wahpekeche had the opportunity to attend the a conference this week for librarians and will be off campus. We are excited to offer a new date since this is our last opportunity for the school year.
The topic will be Robotics with a grade level range of 1st-3rd grade. If you are interested in attending with your child, please RSVP HERE so we know how many families to expect.
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.
The Dad's Club is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an End of Year Campout at Camp Burnett in Southlake May 17 - 18, and we’d love for all GES families to join us in celebrating our school and community! Staff, families and community members are invited to join us from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Mustang Panther Stadium. This free event is to spend time together as a GCISD family, meeting new people and spending time with friends while walking the track in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. GCISD community leaders, as well as first responders and Baylor Scott & White will also be there. Mark this event on your calendar.
The GCISD Bilingual Services Department invites you to our second "Come and Go" event on Thursday, April 17, at the JPS Clinic Building (behind Timberline) – 3050 Timberline Drive, Grapevine, TX – from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This event is designed to provide Emergent Bilingual families with a convenient opportunity to register their returning students for the 2025-26 school year in Skyward at their own pace.
We look forward to seeing you! April Come and Go Skyward Help-2nd event.pdf
Friendly reminder to please allow time for your child to eat breakfast and consume their food before they come into school or drop them off at 7:20 to allow ample time for a cafeteria breakfast purchase. Students should not be dropped off with their breakfast in hand and expected to eat it when they arrive in class. We have seen an increase in students carrying in bags of donuts and expecting to eat them in class. This is distracting to the classroom community. Thanks for your help in this regard!
We want to give a huge thank you to our PTA leaders and all the teacher and parent volunteers who helped make our STEAM Fair a huge success! Heather Cato, our STEAM Fair coordinator took the event to new heights this year with the inclusion of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Congratulations to all our student presenters who did an incredible job sharing their projects. It was a great night of learning and exploring!
The following dates when STAAR tests will be administered are CLOSED campus dates. This means we cannot have any visitors or volunteers inside the building between arrival and dismissal. All staff present on those days must have specific training.
Tuesday, April 22nd- 5th Science
Tuesday, April 29th - 3rd-5th Math
It's that time of year -- GES College & Career Event time! If you are willing to volunteer your time on Tuesday, 5/13 during this opportunity for our GES stars, please complete this Presenter Form by Monday, April 28th! Whether it be 30 minutes for your Star's class only or his/her grade level or the entire day, we would appreciate your time in showcasing your college experience and/or career choice/passion!
Spread the word and the included link to family, friends, or community members that could support our college and career awareness, too!
Calling all new PreK and Kinder Stars for the 2025-2026 school year! We would love for our future star students to be able to come see a little of our campus and be adopted into the GES Star Family. Students and families will take a short self-guided tour of the campus where they can see the gym, art classroom, library, PreK and kinder classrooms, and of course the playground! Come and meet new families who will also be coming to GES next fall.
You're invited to bring a friend and attend the GCISD DAC Potluck.
Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
