GES Families,
We are so excited to have an awesome program for families on Tuesday night, April 1st provided by our amazing GES PTA! This event is open to all GES families and we would love for you to join us from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
In addition to the student STEAM Fair projects that will be on display in the cafeteria, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will give four museum tickets (2 adult tickets and 2 children tickets) to each family that signs in tomorrow night! They will be doing presentations in the cafeteria at 6:20 and 7:20pm as well as having hands up learning activities in the gym.
We will have a brief PTA meeting beginning at 6pm and the program will start immediately after. This is one that you and your students will not want to miss!
Find all the details on our website here: www.gespta.org/steam.
We still need volunteers to make the night a huge success! If you're planning to stop by and would be available to help out so we can ensure that all the activities will be avialable to our students, please Sign up to volunteer here.
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
Our 3rd-5th graders are dressing up this Friday as idioms, a type of figurative language. We invite our families to come watch as they parade around the building at 8am. We will follow the same route as our Book Character Parade in the fall. Families do not need to sign-in to enjoy the parade from the perimeter of the building along our sidewalks.
The following dates when STAAR tests will be administered are CLOSED campus dates. This means we cannot have any visitors or volunteers inside the building between arrival and dismissal. All staff present on those days must have specific training.
Wednesday April 9th - 3rd-5th Reading
Tuesday, April 22nd- 5th Science
Tuesday, April 29th - 3rd-5th Math
Please help us provide snacks and drinks for our GES staff as they administer the STAAR test for our students. You may drop your items off in the secure vestibule before April 9th.

Our Book Battle: Week 4 winner was Campingland by Ame Dyckman! The vote count was 328-171, and we announced this to our students this morning on KGES!
Our books for Week 5 will surely be a hit, because they feature Officer Weber and Mr. Revels! We know that sometimes your child might miss a book battle, or that your child might even want to share these books with younger siblings. Here is a link . Just click on the book covers to watch. Enjoy!
The final Principal Book Club of the year will be on Wednesday, April 23. Orginally we had reserved this Wednesday, but Mrs. Wahpekeche had the opportunity to attend the a conference this week for librarians and will be off campus. We are excited to offer a new date since this is our last opportunity for the school year.
The topic will be Robotics with a grade level range of 1st-3rd grade. If you are interested in attending with your child, please RSVP HERE so we know how many families to expect.
It's that time of year -- GES College & Career Event time! If you are willing to volunteer your time on Tuesday, 5/13 during this opportunity for our GES stars, please complete this Presenter Form by Monday, April 28th! Whether it be 30 minutes for your Star's class only or his/her grade level or the entire day, we would appreciate your time in showcasing your college experience and/or career choice/passion!
Spread the word and the included link to family, friends, or community members that could support our college and career awareness, too!
Calling all new PreK and Kinder Stars for the 2025-2026 school year! We would love for our future star students to be able to come see a little of our campus and be adopted into the GES Star Family. Students and families will take a short self-guided tour of the campus where they can see the gym, art classroom, library, PreK and kinder classrooms, and of course the playground! Come and meet new families who will also be coming to GES next fall.
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.
Our Spirit Shop is back open for a limited time. We are excited to offer you our remaining inventory of this year's spirit wear, as well as some amazing vintage items! We have limited stock and sizes available. If you make an order, your items will be delivered to your child's classroom.

Walk a Mile with GCISD 2025 will be an exciting event for all in GCISD and throughout our community. Staff, families and community members are invited to join us from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Mustang Panther Stadium. This free event is to spend time together as a GCISD family, meeting new people and spending time with friends while walking the track in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. GCISD community leaders, as well as first responders and Baylor Scott & White will also be there. Mark this event on your calendar.
You're invited to bring a friend and attend the GCISD DAC Potluck.
We get lots of requests this time of year from families regarding tutoring. If your child is struggling and you feel they need more support after the school day, we would highly recommend that they use iReady for additional practice and support. All families can sit down with their child after school and guide them through completing an iReady lesson in reading, math, or both. These lessons are tailored to their individual needs and you will begin to see their growth as they fill in gaps and practice their skills.
Our campus expectation continues to be that each student meets a minimum of 30 minutes per week and passes 2 lessons in both reading and math. If your child is not completing these minutes in class, it would greatly benefit them to complete the minutes at home.
To view your child's school photos, click on the email or text you received from Angela Wengrenovich Photography. You will enter your info and be taken directly to your child's gallery. This email only went to the primary parent in Skyward. You can forward to anyone you would like to view the photos.
If you didn't receive an email or can't find it, please visit this link - https://www.angelawengrenovichphotography.com/ges/ - to find more info on accessing your photos.
This is a new system this year. In order to purchase all your digital files, you'll need to add each photo to your cart. There is a max price on all the digital files per child of $60, so if you order 3 or more, you should add all to your cart to get them all for that price. Next year, there should be a "buy all" button!
All orders are due by Monday, March 31 at 11:59pm.
If you have any questions, please let me know at awengrenphoto@gmail.com

Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Available March 3-31. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
