GES Families,
Last Thursday I had the opportunity to join our GES Teacher of the year, Mrs. Abby Courcier, and our GES Para of the Year, Mrs. Zainab Ellis, at a special luncheon provided by the Grapevine and Colleyville Chambers of Commerce. These two organizations came together to support the employees of the year from each campus and department across GCISD. It was a bucket-filling experience to hear the amazing ways that so many GCISD staff members go out of their way to meet the needs of our students. At the end of all the recognitions, they announced the District Teacher of the Year from Elementary and Secondary as well as the Para of the Year. I'm excited to share that our very own PreK para, Mrs. Ellis, was announced as the Carolyn Frank Paraprofessional of the Year! What an exciting honor for Mrs. Ellis and for GES! Please join us in congratulating her!
All my best,
Mrs. Hale

Our May lunch sign-up is now available beginning May 1st. As a reminder, we kindly ask that each family reserve only 1 spot per month so that all families have the opportunity to come and eat with their child. We have 6 spots per grade level per day for families. Now that the weather is getting warmer, families may choose to enjoy sitting on the patio at our picnic tables with their child for lunch. Please pick up a visitor badge in the front office if you wish to sit on the patio so you can get back into the building.
Please remember to sign-up HERE and bring your valid ID to sign-in to the kiosks when you arrive. If you want to sit outside on the patio, please get a badge from the front office that will let you back into the building after lunch.

Have you thanked a School Lunch Hero today? It’s time to show some love to the amazing folks who keep our cafeterias running like clockwork! On Friday, May 2, we’re celebrating School Lunch Hero Day – a time to recognize the hardworking school nutrition professionals who serve up more than just meals.
From whipping up healthy lunches that meet tough nutrition standards, to juggling food allergies and preferences, to doing it all with a smile – these cafeteria champs are true everyday heroes.
Whether it’s a thank-you card, a high five, or just a big smile, take a moment to let your cafeteria team know how much they mean to you and your school. Let's make them feel like the superstars they are!
It's time to begin planning and preparing for the 2025-2026 school year! Registration is now open for all new and returning students. We ask that you complete returning student registration before May 16. The earlier you register, the better we can plan as campuses are staffed based on registration numbers. Registering now helps GCISD avoid last-minute hiring or staff relocations when the school year begins.
The following links will help you access registration documents:
While families can register all year long, your quick attention helps us in planning and preparing for the 25-26 school year and ensures a smooth start for all!
Some of our students noticed today that Officer Weber wasn't on campus. We wanted to let families know that he is taking a leave of absence to care for a family member. Thank you for joining us in sending him well wishes while he is out.
While he's away, we will primarily have Officer Lorena filling in for him. She's a familiar face to our students as she has filled in for him on other days this school year.
In the coming weeks, we will begin to develop our class lists for next school year. In creating these lists we take into account district guidelines and keep in mind the need to create a balanced classroom for our GES Stars. This process involves multiple variables. Below you will find some of the variables we will consider as we develop class lists for the 2026-2026 school year:
Gender balance
Academic mix
Personality and learning styles
Peer relationships
Class size
Special needs
The objective is to place all students with a teacher in a balanced class that will support individual learning and growth. At GES, we are very fortunate to have an exceptional group of teachers and staff to work with our students and families.
Families have the optional opportunity to fill out this student class information form. This form will not be used for requesting a teacher, but will give you a chance to share valuable information about your child. There will also be a spot for your child to share. We will NOT be honoring specific teacher requests. The form will be available online to families April 14-May 2. Please complete the sections of the form online with your student.
Final class placement will not be determined until August.
Field Day will be Friday, May 16! We hope you save the date and can join us at some point during the day. Schedules will be sent out as well as permission slips in May.
Coach Basil would love your support in signing up to Volunteer for our event! You must have a completed background check to sign-up.
It's that time of year -- GES College & Career Event time! If you are willing to volunteer your time on Tuesday, 5/13 during this opportunity for our GES stars, please complete this Presenter Form by Monday, April 28th! Whether it be 30 minutes for your Star's class only or his/her grade level or the entire day, we would appreciate your time in showcasing your college experience and/or career choice/passion!
Spread the word and the included link to family, friends, or community members that could support our college and career awareness, too!
You're invited to bring a friend and attend the GCISD DAC Potluck.
Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
