GES Families,
As we come together to honor Veterans Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women of our armed forces who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms. Their service and sacrifice inspire us all, and we are incredibly grateful for their commitment.
In the spirit of thankfulness that November brings, we also want to recognize the daily dedication of our teachers. We invite families to take a moment to share a note of appreciation with any of our GES staff members. Whether it’s a kind word or a thank-you for their support, these notes mean so much.
If you’d like to participate, blank appreciation notes are available in our secure vestibule and in the front office. You are welcome to fill one out anytime in the next two weeks, and we will gladly deliver them to teachers’ mailboxes. You are also welcome to send in letters from home or have your child create a thank you note to share. Your messages will help us spread an atmosphere of gratitude throughout our campus this month.
Thank you for joining us in recognizing the contributions of our veterans and expressing appreciation to those who make a difference in our students’ lives every day.
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
We needed to make an adjustment to the originally published date for the November Principal's Book Club. We are pushing it back one week, so we will meet together on Wednesday, Nov. 20. We are opening this one to our 2nd-4th grade students. The book featured this month is related to Election season and explains the electoral college to students. We'll have a fun activity with the Ozobots for students to do after we read aloud together. Please sign up HERE if you'll be able to join us so we can plan for enough materials. Hope to see you there!
Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio

If you have left over Halloween candy that you are looking to get rid of, we are glad to take it off your hands! We put it out throughout the year for the staff in the lounge or in candy dishes in the office.

Join us for a family movie under the stars! Bring your lawn chair, blankets, sleeping bag, and wallet to take advantage of all of the delicious movie snacks available at our concessions stand! Concessions and a brief PTA meeting will start at 6 PM with the movie immediately following.
Each year GES PTA awards capital improvement grants to members of the GES community. Expenditures must be on permanent additions to GES, not on consumptive supplies, and are considered GES property after purchase. The Capital Improvements Committee reviews grant applications. The committee will prioritize enhancement requests, and make financially responsible expenditure recommendations that benefit the most students as possible. If you would like to volunteer to serve on the Capital Improvements Committee, please email Jamie Horn at programsandfundraising@gespta.org

Are you a parent looking to stay informed about your child's technology use at school and at home? Look no further than the GCISD Parent Tech Academy! Our next session is at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, on Webex. Here is the Webex link. At the Parent Tech Academy, we will go over how to access parent weekly emails containing your children’s internet history, how to become a Canvas observer, and other parental access tips. Join us for the Parent Tech Academy and learn how to be better informed on your child's technology use.
Come learn about GT/Aspire testing and services for students in grades K-4 on November 12th at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the GCISD PDEC located at 5800 Colleyville Blvd.
All elementary, middle, and high school students are invited to submit original artwork for the cover of GCISD’s official holiday greeting card. This year’s theme is "Show Others Kindness." Three student designs—one each from the elementary, middle, and high school levels—will be selected and sent out on behalf of the GCISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz. Cards are sent to community leaders, area businesses, organizations, and other school districts.
Each student will submit their artwork to their campus art teacher or other designee.
Each school will select campus-based winners whose art will then be submitted to the district level for final selection.
Each high school will choose up to 10 finalists; each middle school will choose up to 5 finalists; and each elementary will choose up to 3 finalists. Final designs for the cover will be selected by the Superintendent and his designees based on originality, the theme, use of the elements of art, and overall design.
The three students whose works are selected for the GCISD Holiday Greeting Card will receive $25 and recognition at the December meeting of the Board of Trustees. The selected artwork and the artists’ names will be featured on the district’s website and used in district publicity.
Please see your school's art teacher for entry forms.
Thank you so much to all of our families that supported our Book Fair last week! Because of the generous support of our families and loved ones, we will be receiving about $5,000 to spend on new books for our library collection! We are thrilled to be able to continue to update our collection and ensure that our students have new and exciting titles for check-out each week. We appreciate your support in keeping our students motivated and inspired to read!
This month will be focused on GRATITUDE. It can be defined as choosing to notice and appreciate things in our life, things in others, and things in the world. Circle Up topics, counseling lessons, and more will include this character trait. Please consider partnering with GES by browsing the Family Connection Newsletter for conversation starters and ideas at home.
Please stay in your vehicles when dropping off or picking up students in the carline. If your child needs assistance with buckling or unbuckling, please pull into an available parking space. If you are using the Hughes parking lot side, please walk your child safely to the cross walk. We appreciate your help in keeping our carlines moving systemically.
Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Available October dates are Tuesday, Oct 1 - Monday, Oct. 28. (Oct. 29-Nov. 1 will be on the Book Fair Lunch with a Loved One sign-up.) Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
