GES Families,
We want to extend a huge thank you for your participation in The Wild Robot Spirit Week. We had so many students who participated in our daily dress-up themes and shared kind notes to continue fostering the strong community that we have at GES.
We ended the week with an excellent turn out at our Glow Dance on Friday night! Our students had an amazing time, and it was wonderful to see our community come together in support of our 5th grade graduation and celebration. We especially would like to thank our PTA Leaders and 5th Grade Committee led by Meghan Decker for planning such a fun night as well as all the volunteers who made it possible.
The enthusiasm, generosity, and school spirit that we regularly see on display from our students and families make these events so special, and we truly appreciate your support. Thank you for helping create lasting memories for our students!
All my best,
Mrs. Hale
We look forward to celebrating the 100th Day of School on Tuesday, Feb. 4th. Please check our your child's grade level newsletter for specific projects or optional dress-up activities this week that their grade may be participating in. This is a fun milestone for our elementary students that we look forward to celebrating each year.
Does your child like to build things?! There is still plenty of time to enter our Roz and Brightbill Family Contest! This is a completely optional opportunity for those interested in participating. There will be up to 10 prizes awarded! Click the LINK to read more! All entries are due by Feb. 7th when we finish the book.
All entries can be turned in to Mrs. Wahpekeche. Please be sure to include a display card following all the directions.
Get ready for our upcoming Spring Book Fair! We’re excited to host this event, which not only gives students and families a chance to explore and purchase great books but also helps support our school’s library. When you shop, our school will receive 30% of the total amount spent to purchase high-quality library books. which should be ready for checkout by early April.
We are always looking for great book fair volunteers! Don't forget, volunteers receive a 20% discount on their book fair purchases! Volunteer here!
Can’t make it to the fair or worried something might be unavailable? No problem! You can still shop and support our school through our online book fair, where you’ll also be able to purchase gift cards for kids and classroom teachers. We can’t wait to see you there and thank you for supporting our school’s library!
We have a special Lunch with a Loved One Sign-up for Book Fair week! On Tuesday-Thursday families may sign-up to eat with their child and shop the book fair during lunch hours. Please sign-up HERE so we can ensure we have plenty of seating. Families will have the opportunity to sit in the back of the cafeteria at the usual seating, on the patio tables to enjoy the nice weather, or on additional tables we may need to set-up on stage. We ask that families please do not sit at the tables with our students, and please refrain from taking friends to eat or to the book fair.
Regularly checking your student's grades in Skyward is essential for their academic success. By reviewing their grades frequently, you can easily identify any missing, incomplete, or failing assignments. This proactive approach allows you to address any issues early on, ensuring that your child stays on track and receives the support they need. Open communication about academic performance fosters a positive learning environment and encourages students to take responsibility for their education. Your involvement makes a significant difference in their academic journey!
Here is a Google Slideshow to help you look at Skyward on your child's school device.
Our PBIS committee is pleased to offer an optional Reward Chart and Chore Chart for families to use at home! These tools are designed to help connect school routines with home life, creating a consistent environment for our students. The Reward Chart can be used to acknowledge and celebrate positive behaviors, while the Chore Chart encourages responsibility and accountability at home. By aligning these charts with school expectations, students will understand the importance of their actions at school and at home. We encourage you to customize these charts to fit your family's needs and to engage your child in the process. Together, we can foster positive habits and reinforce the skills they are learning at school!
Friday, February 14 is a student and teacher holiday, originally marked as a Bad Weather day. Although we had 2 snow days in January, we do not currently have to make up that time due to additional instructional minutes already in our calendar.
Monday, Feb. 17 is a student holiday and teacher professional learning day. We hope you enjoy the long weekend!
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.

We made a few adjustments to the spring Principal Book Club Dates and grade levels based on participation in the fall. Our PreK and Kinder session will now be the end of February and our April session will be open to 1st-3rd graders for robotics.
All sessions will be from 3:00-3:45 in the GES Learning Commons. A sign-up will be sent a few weeks prior to the event so we know how many families to prepare for.
This year our instructional calendar includes the Friday before Spring Break as a Bad Weather make-up day, so Open House will be Tuesday, March 11 from 6-7pm. This will be a come and go event as it has been in the past for students to share the amazing work they have been doing in class and progress towards their goals. We hope you will plan to join us!
Angela Wengrenovich Photography will be on campus March 4-6, 2025 to provide Modern School Photos for our Spring Photos. You can see an example of what to expect here - https://www.angelawengrenovichphotography.com/schoolphotos/ More information to follow.
The tuition-based pre-K lottery for the 2024-2025 school year opens January 13, 2025. Give your child the chance to shine with GCISD's exceptional curriculum and dedicated faculty!
Visitors may join us for lunch with their child if they are signed up in advance HERE. Available Feb 3-28. Please be sure to share our Sign-up link with your family members who wish to come eat with your child. Also, it is critical that anyone coming to lunch with your child, if not accompanying the guardian, is on your child's emergency contact list.
Lunch guests will sign-in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check-in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having their lunch with their child. We ask that you please be courteous to the rest of the community and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than one per month so that all families have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Each family needs only 1 slot reserved. For example, Mom, Dad, and sister may all come eat lunch with Nancy. Only Mom needs to be registered as 1 visitor to reserve 1 picnic table together. When it asks for quantity of visitors, please select just 1. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.

We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc. you will need a completed Background Check! kjkhkuh
The following link takes you to the online Volunteer Handbook and background check: https://www.gcisd.net/o/gcisd/page/volunteer-background-check
In order to volunteer at GES, or around GCISD, all volunteers must:
read the Volunteer Handbook (this replaces the previous face to face volunteer trainings held on campus)
watch the appropriate video included in the handbook
electronically sign the verification Google form for each campus you plan to volunteer
complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
If you are on Facebook, we would love for you to follow our Grapevine Elementary Facebook page if you're not already. We post activities and campus life in addition to helpful reminders. We would love for you to follow our story!
