Fort Worth Zoo Field Trip
Monday, April 14!
3rd Grade Ft. Worth Zoo Field Trip Information- April 14, 2025
Notes:
Your child should wear his/her O.C. Taylor T-shirt, sunscreen, comfortable tennis shoes, hat/sunglasses (optional). Your child should bring a disposable sack lunch and a water bottle labeled with his/her name (refill stations are available throughout the zoo and in the zoo restaurants) that he/she can easily carry.
We will not visit the gift shop so please do not send money with your child. Chaperones, we respectfully ask that you do not purchase items for the children in your group, including your child. Children can become upset when another child or group has "all the things" and they do not. Feel free to ask a 3rd-grade teacher any clarifying questions/concerns that you may have regarding this request. We appreciate your understanding.
Schedule: Students/staff will depart O.C. Taylor at 9:15 a.m. and arrive at the FW Zoo around 9:45. Chaperones will need to drive separately. We will enter the zoo when it opens at 10:00. Chaperones will need to purchase a ticket at the gate and then meet your group/child inside the zoo on the other side of the bridge (near the flamingo exhibit and monkey house). Teachers will meet you with the children, give you a phone number to text in case of emergency, and will provide you with a copy of this itinerary.
10:00-11:30 Visit the exhibits
11:30-12:00ish Lunch. There are various picnic areas located throughout the zoo.
12:00-1:00 Visit the exhibits

Please help your child get into the daily routine of charging his/her Chromebook.
Absences/Ride Changes
If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please be sure to email your child's teacher, Ms. Paola, and Nurse Katy. It's important for all of these staff members to be contacted in order for your child's attendance to be entered in correctly in Skyward. Thank you so much for emailing paola.cervantes@gcisd.net and katy.faught@gcisd.net along with your child's teacher each time your child is absent from school.
When making ride changes, picking up students for appointments and absences, please email both Gene Guinane (gene.guinane@gcisd.net) and Paola Cervantes (paola.cervantes@gcisd.net) in case one of them is out of the office.
Breakfast, Snacks, and Water
Please be sure that your child eats a good breakfast before school. We start our day as soon as they walk in the door. Please send a small (peanut-free) snack and refillable water bottle with your child each morning.
Headphones/Earbuds
Please be sure your child has either a working set of earbuds or headphones that plug into the Chromebook and can be left at school. We need them for the work that we do with technology. Thank you in advance.
Birthdays
Birthdays are special! We will celebrate your child's special day by singing in our classroom. You may send in small treats like pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. if you choose. Please refrain from sending in any food items.
