Coming to have lunch with your Tiger?
Please send an email to BOTH of your child's teachers 24 hours in advance, if you plan to have lunch at school with your child. This is school policy and allows us to ensure the safety/whereabouts of your child during lunchtime.

Tell me examples of "time order" words.
Vocabulary words were: spiky, moisten, sprout, seedling, provides, fuels, minerals.
How can you incorporate the vocabulary words in your conversations with your 2nd grader?
Module 8 "Time to Grow", is into the second week of learning. Students are enjoying the focused text on experiments and life cycles of trees and plants.
Students are beginning the process of writing an informational text. Their stories will be on display for you to read during our "Open House" event.
Grammar lessons this past week focused on additional adjectives. Specifically, students learned how numerical words act as adjectives. Encourage your child to practice using adjectives.

Next week, we will continue to review and learn more about 3D shapes and their attributes.
Science
Ask your child:
What is the job of each structure of a plant?
Leaves? Stems? Roots? Flowers?
This week, we learned about the functions of each structure of the plant. Students made a diagram and labeled 2 functions for each structure.
Next week, students will describe how the physical characteristics of environments, including the amount of rainfall, support plants within an ecosystem.
Students began an investigation observing if the amount of rainfall affects the growth of plants.
Social Studies
Ask your child:
What is a celebration in your culture?
What is language used for?
What is a folktale?
This week, we continued our conversations on culture. We specifically looked at how culture impacts our celebrations and beliefs, language, and art/folktales.
Next week, we will take a deep dive into Texas cultural celebrations including food, clothing, music, activities, etc.
