This piece formed part of my Unit 2 work, titled 'A Building'. Based on the previous MET College site on Pelham Street, I created a mixed media collage. The idea of incorporating history, architecture, imagery, printing and collage was very exciting. I spent a lot of time researching the history of Pelham Street Building and its original use as a girl’s school, uncovering wonderful photographs from the past of the children that studied at the school. I thought around ways I could incorporate the various elements of the building including the children and the architecture. I played with collage, stencils, acetate images and screen prints to create my final piece.

I’ve chosen this artwork because I believe it is one of the most expressive and efficient paintings I’ve done so far. I created this for the FMP and I actually used it as my final piece. I wanted to give it a newish life and play a little bit with the tools in the slides to manipulate the image. I am quite pleased with the result because I think the palette used was well chosen giving my artwork a sense of movement, sense of depth and simplicity while using just 3 colours. My goal was to create an abstract artwork that represented the landscape while using a limited palette and being able to create an expressive image.

I wanted to explore abstraction and the landscape around us, looking at how humans interact and influence our surroundings. I wanted to develop my own abstract language, my own unique style, working on found and otherwise discarded materials. I took inspiration from artists such as Richard Diebenkorn and Agnes Martin.

My work for the FMP was based around the Greek Myth of Danae and Zeus, looking at it from Danaes point of view. My work then focused on looking at trauma and representing this. How we hide and bury trauma in our society.

I'm often inspired by nature and the emotional and/or physical connection between art and artist. In my FMP I explored form and colour in the context of 3D design and this was one of my experimental pieces. Made with air drying clay and painted with gouache paints, I wanted to create a piece that was organic in form and texture by leaving finger marks and using colours to accentuate this. It has an opening at the top so it can hold dry flowers.
Progressing to: University of Brighton to study Illustration, but I still plan to explore ceramics and 3D design outside of my studies.
Oil, Gloss, Resin and recycled Paint on own made Canvas frame 2.5 x 1.5m.
Abstract Expressionism: Possibilities of paint, some free flowing, some more precisely placed and planned but all coming from within, the colour I have been missing in my life. Vibrancy, closeness of friends, music, gigs and festivals, play and fun, using techniques I have learnt during my time here studying at the Met.

"Other" is a short experimental film that I made for my Final Major Project, where I have combined videography, sound, photography, and projection mapping, with a narrative about the Genderqueer identity. Throughout the project I wanted to explore the body, texture, and decay through abstract shapes and forms. I was interested in experimenting with projection mapping and creating an immersive space through image and sound, and it evolved into a short film.
Progressing to: I have applied to university, but I decided to defer the year. I plan to work and do some artistic projects with the skills I have gained throughout the year and past courses.
"Dementia Tree" from my FMP.
Inspired by a broken tree and my mum's journey with Alzheimer's. We build memories over time. Dementia takes them away. Gradually. Randomly. But our core remains.

Working on a logo design for the front page of my Brighton based magazine. "Bright Side" magazine seeks to inspire visitors to this fun, exciting town and focuses on the area between the piers.

Exploring my dual heritage, reflecting on family features and skin tones and how these have changed and merged over the generations. I also reflected on how my Scottish and Jamaican dual heritage linked and connected the two sides of my family. I was inspired by John Stezaker and reflected on how his collage pieces create new faces and features. My piece shows me as a young girl, perched on my great great grandfather's shoulder. I look so delighted to be there, bringing the family and generations together. My smile in this piece is celebratory, I'm the link between the families.

Altered Books: This piece represents two altered books. Caged is Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, his WW1 novel of hardship, trauma and chaos experienced by soldiers trapped in the trenches of the Somme. The second Liberated, is my mother's 1951 personal diary. Each page a beautifully written insight to her simple daily pleasures, a life free from war and mayhem.

Developing imagery based on recent events including the murder of Sarah Everard. I have based my image making on the aesthetic of Catholic art and Iconography, seeking to represent and highlight Sarah through my artwork.

This piece was inspired by the lotus flower which I studied for my final major project as a symbol of rebirth and self-regeneration. The national flower of India and Vietnam has a deep significance and has helped me through art to go through my own form of rebirth. The study led me to discover "Trypophobia" the fear of tiny holes within objects and encouraged me to use this in a positive way to create something beautiful from something fear-inducing.
Progressing to: After this course I will be doing evening classes and continuing my own artwork at home.
This is a close-up of a painting included on my FMP project. My aim was to focus on the subconscious mark making. The media used was acrylics on paper, using a squeegee/palette knife to drag the paint in straight angles until the colours were blended. Working with these tools made me lose control and let the medium dictate the outcome of the artwork, instead of doing precise marks with a brush. This inspiration came from my research on the artist Gerhard Richter and the way he explored the physical gestural capacity of paint and expression on his non-representational abstracts.
Progressing to: I will be going to university this year to study Fine Art or Fine Art Painting. I still haven't decided where I would like to do my studies. It's a big decision and it's important to take my own time to choose what is best.
My FMP started off with exploring a soft material made from melted low-density polyethylene plastics. I ended up printmaking using the material, then eventually turning to more traditional printmaking techniques. I had incorporated faces and figures throughout the project and finished with these three large panels filled with mono printed figures.

This is my book alteration creation. a book written by the author of robinson crusoe, published in 1881. I have created the setting for a fairy fiesta, but he has ended up like a shitake mushroom munching character!!

This is the final piece I created for a body adornment project. I have always enjoyed working with paper and creating origami so I decided to combine this in with the project. I researched Marjorie Schick and wanted my final piece to include repetition like she does.
