This project was inspired by quality street wrappers - or coloured acetate. I wasn’t sure what my experiments were going to evolve into but I knew it would be colourful. I was pleased with my vitamin bottle packaging and I feel I could see it becoming a reality. These designs were fuelled by research which helped to push my ideas further. I think when it comes to concepts, I am motivated by branding and identity - I looked at Boots, researched about their past advertisements and their products and services to gain inspiration.

In this project, I wanted to convey the importance of maintaining happy memories. Being able to improve our quality of life through the tools of reflection and reminiscence. I’ve designed the concept of an individually curated scent which will be present during a large life event and can be re-worn or smelt after to act as a pocket-sized time travelling device. Here’s an example of a diffuser from the ‘Reminessence’ range which encourages everyone to invest in memory, something so precious and so easily lost to aging and life’s progression.

This is a film poster I created for the project 3D-2D Typography. The film "The Reef" is a shark-based thriller, therefore I created 3D lettering inspired by coral using masking tape and then photographed it using fake blood in water.

This piece of work is from the illustration week long project at the very start of the course. I made this using lino and rubber stamps that I cut out and dipped in an ink pad. I really like how it turned out as I had never done anything like this before.

My final piece for a project about identical twins and their relationship with identity entitled 'Identical Identity'. The phrases represent the repeated questions asked to twins that damage their individual identity; the colours overlap emphasising a strong bond held between twins despite their fractured identities. Screen-print methods created the type and the images were created in a dot print style.

This is a project completed in Stage 2 where we were asked to look back at previous work from Stage 1 and ‘revisit and refresh’ the idea. The piece I had chosen was typography I had created and used red and blue to create a ‘3D’ finish which made me think about 3D glasses. This then eventually led me onto the idea of creating a logo for a glasses company called 20:20. Whilst designing the logo I wanted to incorporate glasses into the design and so instead of using an ‘0’ in 20 I changed it into a glasses lens.

My piece of work is a board game that explores the imbalance of opportunity between the wealthy and not-so-wealthy. I chose to represent this in a unique board game made for children to understand and contextualize the divide in society and the effects this has. The aim of the game is to reach the end but depending on which class you find yourself in, the road to get there is very different.

I created a visual identity for Mental Health First Aid in primary schools to try and improve the mental health of young children, which has been particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Mental health first aid for schools does exist, but there isn't a clear way of distinguishing which staff members have the training to encourage children to speak to them. I designed a golden tear drop logo called "Talking Tears", which would be worn as a pin badge by those trained staff members, also designing alternatives for shyer children e.g. a box that could be spoken into anonymously.

During this project, I explored the theme "Distortion" through typography and experimentation. My project developed a focus on induced brain distortion, from drugs or alcohol. I created a drinking-driving campaign poster, inspired by road imagery and my experimentations into distortion. The text ‘one for the road?’ Is a common saying when drinking, and I’ve used it here to encourage people to think about the consequences of having just one more drink. I developed the distorted typography through experimentations with water; its purpose in this context is to imply how an intoxicated person has distorted abilities and perceptions.

"The Bin Man" is a spoof of 70s British Public Service Announcements, specifically ones that indulge too much in creating a narrative so when the PSA does attempt to convey its very specific message it can feel jarring and potentially quite shocking. I decided to parody this by setting up one narrative (a man on the run from the police) only for the story to be invaded by a PSA at the end (a warning about a bin creature), essentially recreating that same jarring sensation but on a more heightened level.

A board game designed to be fun for parents and their children, its main aspect is about trading animals and crops to grow the biggest farm. I designed a colourful game board along with cards, tokens and a rule card. I also did some mushroom game pieces to move around the board with, in four different colours that match the style of the game.

For my Final Major Project I wanted to combine my love of graphical arts with my growing awareness of the threat from humanity to many endangered animal species. These images are taken from a series that outlined the graphical concept for a video game, and associated packaging, promotional material and merchandise. The game would be intended to engage players with conservation issues through immersive gameplay, rather than by obvious ‘preaching’. The images here have tried to capture the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world. Click here to view images

A graphic piece combining painting with typography. This piece was designed as a digital social media post for Tesla, raising awareness of the high energy usage of cryptocurrencies and promoting the use of more sustainable low energy cryptocurrencies. The painting in the image represents the energy intensive blockchains which record transactions and are currently used by the most environmentally damaging cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum.

These are three out of the nine sculptures I completed for my FMP which followed the theme of Memory, my research into this theme led me to trauma and how people respond to their own trauma. The first sculpture represents avoidance, second over sensitive and third substance abuse. I wanted these sculptures to be comforting and help people cope with their own trauma.
