"Paperweight" A surreal excursion into isolation and the mind of a wannabe writer. This film is a constructed mess of juxtaposed elements to heighten the madness of the character.

"TERRA" is the story of a teenage girl (Isabelle) abducted at a young age and thrown into a Secret Human testing facility known as the 'TERRA LAB'. While at the facility her memory is wiped and after living for years in a cell, an unforeseen event sets her free. We also follow the story of Isabelle's psychiatric evaluator Dr Alicen Clark. Similar in age to Isabelle, her sympathetic nature is enough to make Alicen go rogue and attempt to free Isabelle from her captivity. Written and Directed by Alex Phillips and taking inspiration from 'Battlestate Game's Escape From Tarkov', TERRA is the final film to be made by Alex Phillips at the Brighton Met College Filmmaking course.

I am submitting the new film I directed called "SIDIS: The Genius Lost in Time". It is about the smartest man in history but you have never heard of him. The film follows the life of William James Sidis, an ultimate genius who had an IQ of 260. He read The New York TImes as a baby and attended Harvard University aged 11. Sidis went on to live a very secluded life, he liked to live alone. Throughout hard events he suffered and continued to live in isolation until his death in 1944.

"Tapeman" is a semi-improvised, semi-autobiographical short mockumentary, made with a cast and crew of exactly three people including myself. Arthur "Junior" Robinson is a failing record label owner who runs two small D.I.Y imprint operations out of his bedroom, with little more than a PC and a cheap tape recorder. When his old friend, a budding amateur documentary filmmaker, reaches out to him to make a short on his life in independent music, he agrees - though with the camera pointed at him for an extended amount of time, his true colours start to show.

My film explores the idea that social media can cause unrealistic expectations of how your body should look, which can lead to unhealthy or dangerous behaviours. My main character Emma suffers with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Emma feels like there is an expectation that she needs to be skinny/toned because of what she sees across social media. The film follows Emma's daily habits and how she developed a bad relationship with food.

My FMP is a short, suspense filled, horror film. It has a large focus on music, and building an atmosphere. I wanted to try to distance myself from the classic student film feel, and try to give it a more grounded and realised feel.

My FMP focuses on the theme of expectation vs reality and in the film I try to communicate that people are not happy with themselves regarding bodies and how we compare ourselves to influencers.
