These three ceramic pieces from my final major project were inspired by my fascination with oyster shells and their contents. The creation of these organic, non-functional forms were heavily driven by an intuitive working process. (This I found was what kept the project going..) The carefully considered glazing designs enhances the clear-cut edges and the forms within.

"Tipping Point" - This piece considers how the world might change over the next century. The layered clay piece represents humankind. Ice was placed inside, and as it melted, the structure deteriorated and slumped, leaving behind soft clay ready to be remoulded.
This comments on how anthropogenic climate change is only truly a danger to people, and after we're gone, the earth will reshape itself into something new and beautiful. I envision this piece as part of a large installation of many clay pieces, with projections casting animations onto them.

This installation piece was based on how we can create an atmosphere within a space, and what effect this has on an audience. Ideally, it would have been accompanied by gentle background sounds and light projections, with many layers of suspended tiles to fill the space. This was a compromised vision created at home, acting as an insight into the final piece. The tiles were made from Parian Casting slip, each individually cast and suspended using wire.

I have always loved architecture and wanted to study it at university, but I also wanted to do something where I could explore all aspects of design. I picked the course last minute going on gut feeling. I think it would be more suitable for me, I can always come back to dream of designing Buildings in the future. for now I'm going to see where this course takes, and I'm sure that I will come away with new and useful skills I can potentially use towards that dream.
A 1/4 model that I created, in order to help me gain an idea of the materials I would use to create a full sized chair.

This piece of work is experimenting with paint to create movement and texture through colour. When pulling the paper apart it created natural ripples which I enhanced with a fine liner; these linear shapes were developed into my final piece along with a bold blend of colour.

My project is regarding the fragile, mouldable reality of beauty between perspectives, time and culture. Anything can be beautiful if we no longer see beauty as a social construct.
This particular piece intensifies facial features to appear unusual but I have used colours and materials that signify beauty, highlighting the lines between beauty and disgust.

My FMP’s focus was on the negative effects of romanticising trauma which progressed into something more personal. My final piece became an amalgamation of my own feelings and experiences. Click here to view images
The stapled pottery derived from the Japanese Kintsugi method of repairing ceramics with gold filament to celebrate its flaws rather than hide them. I applied this sentiment to my own journey which was filled with so much shame and isolation from the people I loved. I would like survivors to view my piece and feel some sort of acceptance, no matter how small. I want them to know they aren’t broken.

Articulated forearm armour up to the elbow. I have always been interested in armour so for my FMP, I explored both armour and weapon design even further, creating my own fully functional piece.

My FMP was inspired by the physical and psychological effects of ‘Shrinrin-yoku’ (or ‘Forest Bathing’). I wanted to bring the beauty of sunlight shone through organic forms into interior spaces. I chose to focus on abstracting the effects of dappled light through tree canopy cover into semi-symbolic shapes, expressed via window shutters. My motivation for creating shutters was the hope that the experience of the shapes cast by the light will adapt and change as the sun moves, rises and fades.

For my FMP I wanted to explore symbolism through a play/musical/book. I decided to pick Matilda to be my focus as I had seen it in the theatre and loved the set. I explored themes of control and abuse etc with research and experimentation. I developed new skills along the way, from making my own hand sewn rag doll, to building a scaled down stage in the workshop. Doing this project really highlighted my love of stage design and made me more confident to move on to University.

For my FMP, I have designed a scaled down model of a pavilion inspired by the idea of movement. This is the final concept. Initially I was planning to create a piece which includes lighting. Further along the line, I decided to create a pavilion as it provides not only shelter but also an art installation to the nature movement/surrounding. The lighting for my pavilion was support by nature movement (sun) which shines down onto the 'bird' piece which moves by wind and it reflect the lighting pattern down to the floor.

This model is from my "Corner Project" during stage 2 of the 3D pathway on my Foundation Course. The requirement was to create a dining space in an art gallery within a 3 metre by 3 metre floor space with a high ceiling, using the artists assigned to me for inspiration; they were Markus Linnenbrink and Ben Nicholson.
In this design my intention was to maximise the space available and create a dining space which would allow access for everyone.
