7. Leaving Japan Temporarily during the Exchange Program 

The International Education Promotion Group (USTEP Office) does not recommend students leaving Japan during the exchange program. However, if you must leave Japan for unavoidable reasons, please read all the points listed below carefully, understand them, and take necessary procedures before leaving. If you leave Japan without submitting the Temporary Leave Form beforehand, we will take immediate response, such as the cancellation of your enrollment in the exchange program.

特別な事情により出国せざるを得ない場合には、以下の確認事項について十分理解した上で一時渡航届を提出し、出国してください。なお、一時渡航届を提出せずに出国した場合には、即座にプログラム中断等の措置をとることがあります。

1. Submit the Temporary Leave Form at least one week before you leave Japan. If there are any changes in your itinerary after the submission, notify the International Education Promotion Group (USTEP Office) of the change immediately.

2. On your return to Japan, inform the International Education Promotion Group (USTEP Office) about your return by email.

1. 出国の1週間前までに一時渡航届を提出する。提出後に旅程に変更があった場合には、すぐに国際教育推進課 (USTEP Office) へ知らせる。

2. 日本に帰国後、国際教育推進課 (USTEP Office) へ帰国の旨をメールで知らせる。

• UTokyo will not provide any reentry support for your temporary leave. If there are any changes in the Japanese border measures after you leave Japan which results in the denial of your reentry, there is a high chance that your enrollment in the exchange program will be cancelled.

• You are responsible for contacting your instructors in the event you are required to be quarantined thus affecting your course work. If the instructors deregister you from their courses or do not give credits for the courses due to your absence from the classes, you will not be able to claim them.*The International Education Promotion Group (USTEP Office) does not have contact information of each instructor. Furthermore, we will not intervene in matters concerning classes or academic results.

• If you are not able to reenter Japan, your personal belongings left at your accommodation in Japan must be sent back to your home country. Please arrange the packing and delivery of your belongings by asking for help from your friends in Japan.

• If you are a scholarship recipient, you may be required to repay all the scholarship you have already received in the event that your enrollment is cancelled.

• 一時渡航に際し、本学からの再入国支援は一切受けられません。出国後に水際対策等に変更があり、日本へ入国ができなくなった場合はプログラムを中断することになる可能性が高いことにご注意ください。

• 隔離期間等が発生し、それにより授業履修に影響がある場合は必ず自身で教員に連絡をとってください。また、授業を欠席すること等により履修を断られたり、単位がつかなかったりする場合などいかなるケースも学生は不服を申し立てることはできません。※国際教育推進課では各教員の連絡先は把握していません。また、国際教育推進課 (USTEP Office) は授業や成績のことに関しては一切介入しません。

• 入国不可能となった場合、滞在先に置いている自身の荷物については、梱包や郵送を日本にいる友人等に頼むなどして、母国へ送ってもらえるように自身で手配してください。

• 奨学金受給者の場合、プログラム中断により全額返金等の可能性が生じる場合があります。

JASSO Scholarship Recipients must confirm their enrollment by signing in at the International Education Promotion Group (USTEP Office) within the given period of each month. JASSO Scholarship Recipients must reside in Japan at least 8 consecutive days in order to receive scholarship for that month. Failure to submit the temporary leave form will result in cancellation of JASSO scholarship.

JASSO奨学金受給者は、毎月の所定の期間内に国際教育推進課 (USTEP Office) でサインをすることにより、在籍を確認する必要があります。JASSO受給者はその月の奨学金を受給するために、連続8日間以上日本に滞在する必要があります。一時渡航届を提出しない場合は、日本学生支援機構奨学金の受給を取り消すことがあります。
