Johns Hopkins University enrolls more than 30,000 full- and part-time students across nine academic divisions. Our faculty and students study, teach, and learn in-person and remotely across more than 400 programs in the health professions, arts and music, the humanities, the social and natural sciences, engineering, international studies, education, and business. Previous examples of such activities include group excursions to an Orioles Baseball game, the National Aquarium, and Washington D.C., as well as other activities such as Thanksgiving potlucks, pumpkin decorating, and more! Located in Baltimore, Maryland, students also have access to the beautiful city of Baltimore, with other major cities like Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York only a brief train ride away.

Located in Baltimore, Maryland, Johns Hopkins’ immediate environment has much to offer. Museums, restaurants, concert venues, coffee houses, and one-of-a-kind shops are just a short walk or a free shuttle ride away from Hopkins’ four Baltimore campuses.

A city with a rich history as a working-class port, Baltimore has blossomed into a hub of social, cultural, and economic activity but retains the small-town feel that has earned it the nickname Charm City. 

From popular tourist attractions—the Inner Harbor, the National Aquarium, or Fort McHenry (birthplace of “The Star Spangled Banner”) — to more off-the-beaten path destinations — the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum, or the tranquil Sherwood Gardens — there is always something new to discover.

The city hosts events both big and small throughout the year. Baltimore sports fans are passionate about their Orioles and the Ravens; sci-fi lovers can geek out at Baltimore Comic-Con; and hundreds drop by the Baltimore Farmer’s Market each Sunday to pick up fresh local meats, cheeses, flowers, and produce (and perhaps a cup of locally roasted Zeke’s coffee, too).

また、電車で1時間の距離にあるワシントンD.C.や、3時間で行けるニューヨークシティへも足を運びます。感謝祭、クリスマス、春休みなどの長期休暇には、友人との旅行、家族訪問、ホリデーシーズンのお祭りを楽しむため、アメリカ国内を旅する学生もいます。

During weekends, our students enjoy exploring Baltimore's many neighborhoods, including Charles Village and Hampden (home to the famous holiday lights on 34th Street); Mount Vernon and Station North, a prime destination for artists and arts enthusiasts alike; and the historic waterfront neighborhoods of Fells Point, Canton, and Federal Hill. Students also visit Washington, D.C., an hour train ride away, or New York City, a three-hour trip.

During long breaks such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and in the spring, students travel across the country with friends, to visit family, and enjoy holiday festivities. 

ボルチモアはグルメの街として知られており、特にシーフードが名物です。夏には、蒸したブルークラブにオールドベイという特製スパイスをかけたカニのご馳走を囲むのが、地元ならではの伝統です。メリーランド州名物のクラブケーキや、チェサピーク湾で獲れた新鮮な牡蠣は、ぜひ試していただきたい定番です。

魅力的な味はそれだけではありません。スモーキーなピットビーフ・サンドイッチや濃厚なバーガー・クッキーは、市内の伝統的な市場やダイナーで味わえる、地元で愛される名物です。デザートには、ボルチモア自慢の冷たいスノーボール（シロップとマシュマロをかけたかき氷）や、ユニークなレモンスティック（レモンにペパーミント味のストローを刺したもの）があります。

地元の名物料理だけでなく、ボルチモアでは本格的な各国の料理も楽しめます。リトル・イタリー地区のイタリアン・トラットリアから、本格的な中華、韓国、東南アジア料理のレストランまで、その多様な食文化は街の多様なコミュニティを反映しています。
