This week was the first week of researching about global health issues in the cycle 3.First, I researched about the top 10 causes of death after reading some articles for understanding overview of global health issues. In the world, the top of the causes was ischaemic heart disease. Also, stroke, lower respiratory infections, chronic obstructive lung disease, diarrhea and HIV/AIDS had remained the top major causes of death during the past decade. From the viewpoints of income, there were some differences. HIV/AIDS is not the top 10 cause of death in upper-middle countries and high income countries (World Health Organization, 2013).Then, I moved to the research about children and health. During the Summer Internship, I went to the facility for caring for the orphans who are infected with HIV, so I was interested in the situations of children’s health in the world. The information which I saw first was the fact that about 6.9 million children under the age of five died in 2011 and it meant that about 800 children died per hour. The risk of death is highest in the first month of life. From one month to five years of age, the main causes of death are pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria and measles. Malnutrition was estimated to contribute to more than one third of all child death (World Health Organization, September 2012; UNICEF, 2003.). From this research, I want to know about hunger and malnutrition in the world because food is one of the bases of our lives. So I will research overview of issues about hunger and malnutrition, especially the causes of issues because it is important to find them first.(266 words)
