This week I researched about xenophobia in Japan made by media. I read book review and some kind of caution on “Secret Files of Foreigners’ Crime” by Eichi. In Japan, many books are published, which is written in it, such as hate for Korean and Chinese, crime by the US army and other problems foreigners caused. And sometimes the media pick those problems up. In the article of the Guardians, a naturalized Japanese man said ‘It (magazines or other media like Secret Files of Foreigners’ Crime)’ into the realm of encouraging hatred of foreigners.’ I think so, too. Such kind of magazine or books or other media just makes a great fuss about nothing, I think. It can’t resolve anything. And I also researched about Japanese neo patriotism. It has relationship with Net uyoku, or online right wingers. Koreans and Chinese said that Prime Minister Abe is a patriot or right winger, and some foreigner concern about Japanese neo patriotism. But I couldn’t understand the idea that if a right winger or patriot becomes the Prime Minister, the right of foreigners and foreigners themselves will be threatened, So I didn’t use the article about Korean and Chinese afraid of Japanese patriotism. Next week is presentation, I have to organized my idea and research more and more clearly.
