Through my first research about Ainu people, I’m very interested in discrimination and xenophobia. I’ve been interested in xenophobia since last year, because last year I researched about Basque region, Kosovo conflict and Neo Nazism. I thought I’d been interested in issues about identity, what made nation to state? I heard in other class that Japanese people have few genetic common features in each other than other Asian people. It means Japanese people have had to find common point exclude genetic aspects to make a state, I think I can call it “Japanese identity”. And I think this Japanese identity has brought Japanese exclusive or closed society and some other issues relate foreigners.
In next research, I will research about xenophobia in Japan. I red some survey about Japanese tourism. I was surprised that nearly half of Japanese, who work on tourism in Japan, think foreigner’s tours are some burdens on them, but many foreigners visited Japan thought tour in Japan was good, and Japanese were kind. In some bullet board system I red, there are some anxiety about xenophobia in Japan, but there are also many comment how Japan was easy to visit, and many Japanese would try to guide. Is xenophobia in Japan true?
