In this time, we talked about a survey by Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs,
Posts and Telecommunications of Japan, in 2008, about the accepting situation for foreign tourists. Over 75% of accommodations of which will not accept foreign tourists because they have difficulties in language, especially in English, and more than half of them concern about trouble shooting. In other English class I asked a foreign student whether he thinks Japanese society is exclusive or closed society or not, because I read BBS about xenophobia in Japan, but there are many favorable opinions for Japan and I doubted it. He thought Japanese society is closed. I think so, too, I know some Japanese people hate foreigners, especially Koreans and Chinese. I think Japanese people want to be same, or Japanese people have a culture similar to egalitarianism or simultaneousness, such as understand the atmosphere. So, Japanese people don’t like to accept foreigners so much, because of differences such as language, religion and culture, I think. This theme, xenophobia in Japan, is very difficult I think, I want to research about surveys for foreigner, and situations of xenophobia in other countries. It will be help for my organization of this research.
