This week I researched about other culture of Ainu people, I had researched about Ainu language, oral literature and ideas of Kamuy, in the Spring semester I researched about their eating habit, instruments and some cloths. So this time I researched about dance, design and home building.
In 1984, Ainu’s traditional dance was recognized as significant intangible folk cultural asset. Rimse is one of women’s dances and Emsirimse, dance using swords, is one of dance of men. Those differences are very interesting for me. Designs of cloths are also different men and women, women’s cloths have less design than men’s.
And the most interesting thing for me is that Ainu people have men’s pattern and women’s pattern. Patterns of needle work are women’s pattern. Mother tells her design to her daughter, and the daughter will tell it to her daughter again. And fathers tell their sons his design of engraving on knives, and the son will tell his son the pattern, so Designs of engraving on knives are pattern of men.
And this week, I added more information about ideas of Kamuy. It is interesting that sometimes Ainu people protest to kamuy, because they have responsibility of blessing to Ainu people.
I will go to Ainu culture center by next week if I could.
