The Plumber

It may not seem glamorous or exciting, fixing pipes and water systems,

And no little boys will ever say they want to be a plumber when they grow up.

But plumbers get called on to avert crises.

Broken pipes, water systems, floods, back-ups, lost pets, lost jewelry.

Sometimes my work is difficult, but it is always rewarding.

It was a Saturday night,

And I had yet to finish my apple pie.

My wife and I were looking forward to an uneventful night at home,

When Brrriiiinnnngggg, the telephone rang loudly.

We were surprised.

Our telephone rarely rang.

I answered the telephone, and I heard from one of my most wealthy clients.

In fact, they could be the wealthiest family in the town of Quahog, Rhode Island.

According to her, “It’s a catastrophe!”

Apparently, she lost her favorite four carat diamond earrings.

They disappeared down the drain in the sink.

She needed me to come over immediately.

I knew the importance of this client.

Her husband owned most of the town.

I knew this had to go perfectly.

So, I called my partner, Gus, and told him what happened.

And how we had to get there right away.

I got into my Chrysler Imperial

And drove there as fast as I could.

Gus and I arrived in six minutes.

I knocked on the door, and she came to open the door at once.

She had a worried look on her face.

And she directed us to the upstairs bedroom where she lost the earrings.

She left us alone.

Gus scanned the bedroom and saw a perfume bottle atomizer.

He found the smell to perfume to be delightful.

Before he knew it, I snatched away the perfume atomizer and sprayed him in the face.

The smell of another woman’s perfume could get Gus into heaps of trouble with his wife!

At last we began to get to work.

Gus was underneath the sink, loosening the pipe.

It burst and Gus got soaked with water.

“Ow!” Gus hollered. “This random diamond ring just hit me in the forehead! But at least I got soaked with water so my wife won't kill me.”

“Gus, that's the solution. WE HAVE THE RING!”

And you understand kid, some jobs may not be glamorous or fun but without us that woman would have no ring. Respect every working man or woman.
