The farmers wake up at three
They till the land until dawn
They plant the seeds by seven o’clock
All the seeds are planted
The farmers go inside for some breakfast.
The farmers forgot to water their seeds
They could lose the harvest, but don’t worry
Because all they have to do is turn on the irrigation system.
With skin as hard as a rhino
And muscles that could lift a truck
Their crops are growing tall and full
Their backbreaking work is never done
Harvest is just around the corner
There seems to be an early frost coming their way
The farmers wake up everyone in their families.
Everyone must help the farm in these times
They take them out to the fields in trucks and tractors
For the families will soak the crops with warm water,
In the hopes that the plants will not freeze and die.
They pray they are not too late.
With skin as hard as a rhino
And muscles that could lift a truck
Their crops are growing tall and full
Their backbreaking work is never done
And, with their hard work and a little bit of luck
Very few plants died, and their sweat paid off.
In celebration of their good fortune this year
They milked the cows and made ice cream on the porch.
The horses were given extra oats after the stalls were shoveled
Jerky was shared with the sheep dog to praise for their alarms.
The dirt in the pigpens were made wet, so they will have their mud.
Cows were released to graze by the pond and soak up the sun.
With skin as hard as a rhino
And muscles that could lift a truck
Their crops are growing tall and full
Their backbreaking work is never done
