The Commercial Pilot

Commercial pilots have a really stressful job. The lives of over 200 passengers dependent on them to travel from place to place safely. An hour before takeoff, a pilot has to be sober and alert for any circumstance that may occur during the flight. Food is also key in a long flight, a full stomach means a better overall flight from a comfort perspective. There are scores of procedures a pilot has to go through before takeoff. From checking the engines to looking over flight procedures. Then there is the ever long air traffic control, the air traffic control decides what planes takeoff at what time. Air traffic control can give the pilot the go to takeoff in five minutes or in half an hour.

Once a pilot is given the go for takeoff, the pilot has to communicate to the passengers that the plane is taking off. “Engine check” the pilot has to gradually takeoff and not accelerate too fast.Once in the air the plane needs to try and exceed the height of the clouds. The sky is a minefield with birds roaming free or a freak natural storm to avoid. Once passed the clouds, the pilots can somewhat relax before the plane nears the destination.

When the plane's destination approaches, pilots talk over the loudspeakers telling the anxious passengers that their destination is approaching. The plane has to take a nosedive at the right time and at the right angle. With the help of the dials, it is the pilots call to decide when it is time to descend. The plane swoops down on the target runway that air traffic control has granted them. All anyone can see is clouds the the runway comes into view. The passengers wait in a tense second before they feel a jolt that signals to them that the have touched down.

Another successful flight for the pilots. There is a ton of planning and preparation involved in just one commercial flight to and from anywhere. The pilots have a stressful job from getting on the plane to landing at another terminal at another airport. The job of a commercial pilot is one of the hardest jobs that is rarely talked about for being difficult.
