The Construction Worker

A man cuts through metal. All those who go by immediately label him as a construction worker. They label his cover, but they do not look through the pages of his book. Even a quick skim could change his label, make different ones: veteran, father, upstanding, friendly. Everyone has their visible qualities--shy, rich, poor. But before a label is given, people should stop and think about the qualities that are deeper than the skin. A man cuts through metal. All those who go by stop, think about what qualities he might have. Have a conversation with him. And as they walk away, he smiles.
