Tech Updates from Edward

Tuesday Tech Tips is a weekly blog that contains interesting technology tips, articles, and videos.

Important Reminder:

Please be aware that over the last few weeks two school districts in Somerset County have had network issues due to phishing emails. Additionally, over the last 24 hours, there has been an increase in spear-phishing attempts against our franklinboe.org domain.

These are targeted attempts directed at specific recipients. The spear-phishing emails are crafted to look as if they are from a legitimate source and deceive the user into clicking on a link that then asks for personal information such as bank information or their franklinboe.org username and password.

Recently, some school districts in NJ were hit with a ransomware attack whereby outside actors were able to lock the district's network and data and demanded large sums of money to unlock it. This situation is so serious that state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are involved in the investigation. The majority of these attacks are facilitated by staff who opened attachments they shouldn't have, or clicked on a link and supplied username and password information.

If you receive any emails and are unsure of the source PLEASE DO NOT click on the links. delete the email and feel free to contact Help Desk
