September 19th, 2025 - Volume 6
Dear Viking Families,
WE MET AND EXCEEDED OUR GOAL! Your generosity is so appreciated and we are excited to begin the process of letting our students vote on the playground equipment we will purchase soon. THANK YOU!
Please take some time over Fall Break to complete two things for us:
1 - Vote for any staff member for September’s Spirit of the Viking Habit 1 Award - this closes right after Fall Break.
2 - Complete the MRA survey. Your voice is such an important part of understanding the areas we do well and how we can get better.
Our first Universal Screening assessment is complete. You have received from iReady your child's scores. If you have any questions about this report or what these scores mean, please reach out to Jessica Howington, our Assistant Administratior, at jhowington@forsyth.k12.ga.us. This will also be discussed during our Fall Conferences on October 17th.
I hope you all enjoy the week. Once we return, October is full of so many events and opportunities to connect with us! From Picture Day on October 1st, to clubs and Precess in full swing, to opportunities to volunteer through PTO Viking Volunteers as well as Viking Dads, to our first round of field trips including our first ever West Homecoming Parade our 5th graders will get to participate in, to Fall student conferences on the 17th paired with our online learning day, to our Fall Book Fair, and ending the month with our annual West Fest/Trunk or Treat event. I look forward to seeing you at these events as we come together to rise and lead.
Thank you for your continued support. Our next newsletter will be October 10th, 2025.
With gratitude and care,
Elizabeth Ihle

What Is the MRA?
The Measurable Results Assessment is a rigorously developed survey tool used to annually collect, analyze, and report student-, staff-, and school-level outcomes related to the focus on improving leadership, culture, and academics.
Leader in Me Schools use the MRA as they engage in continuous cycles of improvement to identify its strengths and weaknesses, develop improvement plans, and monitor progress.
The MRA measures are aligned with the highly effective practices outlined in the Leader in Me Framework. This alignment empowers schools to move from data insights to action plans and best leverage their limited time and resources to meet their most important goals.
Below are the results from our MRA Survey from Fall 2024. We focused on the three lowest categories throughout the school year. Our goal is to have 190 people complete the MRA Survey for this year. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

🎉WE MET OUR GOAL!!🎉
Thank you so much for your participation and donations to our Boosterthon Fun Run!! We had a wonderful week and met our goal for raising funds for our school! New playground equipment here we come!!
We have organized the lost and found! It is located outside of the gym doors in the car line. We will leave the items out throughout fall break for families to look for items. We will donate all items when we return from fall break!
Forsyth County voters have a long history of supporting ESPLOST (Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax), which has funded capital projects that support all schools. Every promised project from past ESPLOST referendums has been completed, ensuring students learn in safe, modern, and innovative environments. View the video above from Superintendent Mitch Young and BOE Chairman Mike Valdes for an important message about the upcoming vote for ESPLOST VII.
The proposed ESPLOST VII is not a new tax—it is a continuation of the one-penny sales tax that helps reduce the burden on property taxes by also being paid by non-residents who shop, dine, or do business in Forsyth County. If approved, ESPLOST VII will fund important safety upgrades, new schools and expansions, technology, and transportation improvements that directly benefit students and staff while keeping pace with our community’s growth.
Forsyth County voters will have the opportunity to decide on the renewal of ESPLOST during the election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Please note that employees may not work to promote or oppose ESPLOST or bond referendums during school hours or using school resources. For more information, refer to the FCS Employee Handbook or contact your supervisor.
