Although we highly encourage families to utilize our transportation services and ride the bus, we have an organized, well-run car line, not only in the morning for drop-off, but also in the afternoon for pick-up. Our car rider system has proved to be efficient for many years. Some very important, key items to note regarding our car line are as follows:
Our morning car line entrance is different from our afternoon car line entrance. Please refer to the maps below. If you come in the wrong entrance, you will be asked to turn around and enter through the correct entrance, putting you further back in the line.
When approaching the front of the car line, please be sure to pull ALL THE WAY FORWARD! You will see staff members directing you. This is imperative for a smooth and quick car line!
For AM car line drop off, please only release students where staff members are present. We typically start unloading students near Lily's Garden, which is right beyond the shared parking lot by the middle school. We will close the line at 7:35am to allow for teachers to get to their classrooms when the bell rings at 7:40am.
For AM and PM car line, please remain in your car at all times.
Students MUST exit their cars on the passenger side. You will more than likely hear a lot of yelling and screaming if your child tries to exit from the driver's side. Just know, this is for their safety! 😊
For a full list of procedures, reference the graphics below or visit our website at: https://vickerycreekelem.forsyth.k12.ga.us/our-school/policies-procedures/car-walker-procedures
Please enter the morning car line through the MAIN VCE entrance. You will enter the parking lot and go right to move through the lot. There will be a police officer at the entrance to direct traffic each day.
BE CAREFUL pulling into our lot prior to our officer arriving!! Staff sometimes parks in the shared lot between us and the middle school.
Please DO NOT enter the morning car line through the shared VCMS/VCE entrance. Stay straight on Post Rd. and proceed to the VCE main entrance where the officer is located.
Students need to be ready to exit the car by the time they approach staff member locations. Please, please make sure they have their backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, and any other belongings, and they are prepared to exit the car.
Students MUST exit the car on the passenger side and open and close their own door.
Parents/guardians MUST remain in the car at all times. There is a lot of moving traffic and this is for everyone's safety.
If you are releasing your student near the front of the school, please be sure to pull all the way forward, as we have staff members located well beyond the front door entrance.
Students will enter the building via the closest open door and go directly to class.
Golf carts MUST follow the same traffic pattern that is expected of cars when entering and exiting the car line.
Parents MUST have the current year's car tag in order to pick up their child(ren).
If the person picking up does not have the car rider tag, they must park, wait until car rider line ends, and come into the building to show identification. This is for your child's safety.
Enter the afternoon car rider line through the shared VCMS/VCE parking lot and turn left to move through the lot.
The main VCE entrance is EXIT ONLY during the afternoon car line.
Classroom Safety
In accordance with new state legislation, all classroom doors will remain closed and locked during instructional time. This helps us maintain a secure learning environment while continuing to foster connection and creativity. Teachers will actively monitor students during hallway work and small group activities, ensuring learning continues in safe and supported ways.
Exterior Doors
All exterior doors must remain closed and unpropped. New signage reminds visitors to check in at the front office-thank you for helping us keep our campus secure.

Per our policy, if you need to change your child's mode of transportation for going home at the end of the school day, you must fill out a Transportation Change Form. This form needs to be submitted by 10:00am on the day of the change (9:00am on early release days) in order for the change to take effect. Please note there is a new form, with a new link, each school year. If you have bookmarked the form from last year, please update your link.
Vickery Creek Elementary has a rich history of greatness. From the beginning, VCE has been more than just a school - it's a community. Our journey has always been an exciting one. However, our journey took an exciting turn in 2015 when we embraced the Leader in Me framework and embarked on our Leader in Me journey, built on Dr. Stephen Covey’s timeless principles of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. At VCE, our Leader in Me journey has been a transformative story of growth, leadership, and collaboration. It began with the belief that every child has genius and that leadership is for everyone. Over time, this philosophy has blossomed into a vibrant culture where students, staff, and families unite to create a community grounded in trust, empowerment, and excellence. This was evidenced by our first major Leader In Me achievement, which was obtaining Lighthouse status in 2018. From setting personal and school-wide Wildly Important Goals (WIGs), to fostering student-led conferences and leadership portfolios, we’ve seen the power of intentional systems and shared ownership. Our hallways are alive with evidence of the 8 Habits and Core Paradigms, and our students lead with confidence, creativity, and purpose. With every milestone, we celebrate the measurable growth in leadership, culture, and academics, knowing that this journey is not just about achievement—it’s about building a legacy of empowered learners and leaders.
At VCE, we know that a strong school is built on strong partnerships. Our Parent Lighthouse Team, PTO, Local School Council (LSC), and programs like Viking Volunteers and Viking Dads bring families into the heart of our school, creating a true sense of belonging. Through social media and community events, we stay connected with the people who help make our school so special.
You are sure to hear more about the incredible Leader In Me framework as we work through our first 8 days of school focusing not on academics alone, but building relationships, embracing our paradigms, and teaching the 8 Habits that will help mold your child into a lifelong leader.
