July 17, 2026 - Volume 1
Hello Viking Families!
A beautiful summer is flying by, and the anticipation of welcoming your children to our campus is growing every day. There is a distinct magic that returns to our hallways the moment our students walk through the doors, and capturing that vibrant energy is at the very heart of who we are. Our students' curiosity and enthusiasm perfectly reflect our core mission: We are a community igniting the joy of learning and inspiring leaders.
This is a historic milestone year for Vickery Creek Elementary as we proudly celebrate our 30th anniversary. Three decades of excellence have set the stage for an incredible global spotlight this year. We are officially beginning our journey to elevate our status from a Leader in Me Lighthouse School to a Leader in Me Legacy School. Please see the letter below explaining what each of these mean for your students and our school as a whole. As a testament to this hard work, we have the immense honor of hosting educators from across the globe who are traveling to see leadership in action on our campus during the Atlanta Symposium.
To honor this special chapter, we are expanding our school motto. We are proud to be a community of learners who lead, learn, rise and now grow together. Our strength lies in our unity, and in partnership with you, we are dedicated to cultivating an environment where every child feels deeply connected and inspired to achieve their best.
This Google Site, along with your child's teacher weekly newsletter, our website, and direct emails will continue to serve as our primary source of communication, alongside our social media channels. Every two weeks, I will share an updated link, and this main landing page will feature my bi-weekly letter and a central hub for all upcoming events, celebrations, and timely information. Please take a moment to browse the tabs in the top right corner, which house deep-dive resources and school-specific details designed to keep your family informed.
We look forward to connecting with you very soon at our upcoming back-to-school orientation events to kick off the year, meet the staff, and link up with our fantastic parent groups. Please never hesitate to reach out with your questions, feedback, or ideas as we embark on this landmark journey. Thank you for your incredible partnership, and welcome to an unforgettable 2026-2027 school year!

Principal
At Vickery Creek Elementary, we believe that Together We Lead. Together We Rise. Together We Grow. Strong communities are built one connection at a time, and every connection begins with a welcome. To our returning families, welcome home. To our newest Vikings, welcome to the VCE community. We are so glad you're here!
All families will receive a phone call from your child's teacher introducing themselves by Friday, July 31st. 💜
We invite all incoming kindergarten students and their families to join us for our Kindergarten Round-Up & Open House! This special event is an opportunity to meet your teacher, explore your new school, connect with our VCE family, and take part in a memorable tradition. Officially sign your name alongside Mrs. Ihle as we welcome you into the Vickery Creek community!
We invite all incoming 1st through 5th grade and specialized instruction students to Open House! Open House is an opportunity to meet your teacher, explore our school, connect with our VCE family, and take part in a memorable tradition. We are excited to welcome back those who are returning to us.
We are excited to share a preview of our schoolwide behavior expectations that will be implemented at VCE for the 2026-2027 school year. After gathering feedback from teachers, students, and parents, we have developed a shared set of expectations, in alignment with our Leader in Me habits and utilizing the PBIS framework, to support all of our leaders in common areas throughout the school. We are excited to encourage all of our Vikings to be Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Lead!
Please note our AM Car Rider drop off line has changed! All vehicals will pull in and take the first right instead of the second. This will allow those that need to park and come in to have easier access to the sidewalk. Thank you for your patience - each year we strive to make this smoother and a little easier for everyone. Our priority is student and staff safety.
Parents: Each year we are proud to have a student lighthouse team, made up of students from all grade levels. We will be establishing our student lighthouse team in August, and want to be sure you have the application early so your child can start completing the application early. This team will establish and create the student action teams that help with student-driven ideas, initiatives, and ways students think our school can improve. Leadership in Action!
PTO has a new home! For the 26-27 school year our PTO will have a room. They will be located in room 219. Be sure to stop by during either Open House for more information and to be sure to stay in the know about all events and celebrations our PTO puts on for our school.
If you are interested in any of the elected positions we will have available next year (Chair and Vice Chair), please send me a short bio highlighting your connection to VCE and your interest in one of these positions. Begininng next school year, we will hold an election to fill the positions. Send your bio to Elizabeth Ihle at eihle@forsyth.k12.ga.us.
