February 20th, 2026 - Volume 14
Dear Viking Families,
Our Family Dance was a wild success. Candy Gram sales was another successful endeavor with PTO raising a total of around $2,000! These funds will go towards our movie night on March 20th. Thank you to the PTO - they have certainly been busy this month and their efforts help our students and our faculty by inspiring joy in our building. Another credit to PTO is the completion of our Boosterthon purchases - the two new pieces of playground equipment. Both are installed and fully operational! Again, thank you for your support in this endeavor.
Precess is also back and in full swing! Warmer weather has allowed students to return for play before school. This initiative began last year after reading the book The Anxious Generation. As an educator and parent, the book made me think about how we structure recess and teach grit. Is there a way we as a school can provide opportunities for students to problem solve and work through conflict while still teaching the fundamental principles of learning and leading? The answer we landed on was to create a time at school where grade levels can mix together and students can play before school starts. It has been wildly successful. Not only for students gaining an additional opportunity to play and run around, but also time for them to develop some problem solving skills with their peers.
Our Parent Lighthouse Team has been diligently working on creating our VCE Habit Garden in the front of our school. In this newsletter is a link to items we are still trying to collect to finish this project by our school wide pep rally on March 20th. All donations are greatly appreciated!
Our LSC met yesterday as well. We have one more meeting this school year and will begin to look for new board members to serve on LSC for the 2026-2027 school year. The commitment is typically a 2 year term. More information about what the LSC does and the commitment is below. If you are interested in serving in this manner, please send me an email with a brief bio. If we have multiple people interested in specific positions, we will hold elections for these in August 2026.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Elizabeth Ihle

Currently, our PLT is leading the efforts to create a VCE Habit Garden in the front of our school. You may notice some new rocks and a large pallet of stones - all part of the bigger plan to beautify our space with the 8 Habits and the framework we embody to create and sustain a community igniting the joy of learning and inspiring leaders. Here is the amazon wish list they have created to try to get donations for some of the remaining projects. Thank you for considering! Amazon Wish List
Forsyth County Schools is committed to continuous improvement in every school. Beginning next school year, each school will participate in an Internal Review. This is a districtwide process that helps us look closely at how well we are supporting student learning and where we can continue to grow.
Vickery Creek will have its internal review on March 2 -3, 2026. During these two days, FCS employees on the review team will visit our building to learn more about our daily work and how we support students.
The Internal Review process includes:
A school overview and presentation of key goals
Classroom observations focused on student engagement and learning
Conversations with students, staff, and families
Feedback to support our school’s goals
This process is not an evaluation of any individual teacher or program. Instead, it is a chance for us to celebrate what is going well, understand where we are now, and make thoughtful plans as we continue to support our students.
We appreciate your support as we engage in this important work. If you have any questions about our review, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
We are so grateful for Garrett Schafer, State Farm continued support as a Partner in Education at our school. Their generosity and commitment help make so many of our programs, events, and opportunities possible for our students and families. We truly appreciate their investment in our community and the positive impact they make each day.
