Hello Viking Families!

I hope this letter finds you as excited as I am for a new year. In just a few weeks, we will welcome your children to our campus. I can hardly wait! Seeing your children's' smiling faces as they begin this school year is what makes our school come to life. Their energy, passion, excitement and pure JOY is the cornerstone of our school mission statement: We are a community igniting the joy of learning and inspiring leaders. 

Please check out this new Google Site. We will be using it for all communication this year. Every 2 weeks, I will send out a new link and this first page is where all timely events and information will be provided along with a letter from me. I encourage you to look through the tabs in the top right corner. You will find specific information to our school and more in-depth information than is on our public facing website. 

Open house kicks us off on Thursday, July 31st. You will receive a call from your child/ren's teacher prior to ask you to select a time frame on July 31st. You will be able to bring supplies and/or pick up supplies, come in to meet the teacher as well as other students in the classroom. We will provide you a "scavenger list" with all the things you can get done during this time including lunch accounts, transportation questions and car tags, and any other information you may need regarding access to Parent Portal. Our PTO will be set up in the cafeteria with VCE spiritwear and information about how they partner with us. Other tables in the cafeteria include information about Local School Council, Parent Lighthouse Team, Viking Dads, and other ways to partner with us. 

The next day will be our Ice Cream Social in the bus lanes at 6:00pm. This is such a fun event! I loved this event last year and I hope to see you all at the one this year. You and your child can enjoy Ice Cream and each other as we get excited for the new school year. 

As I look to embark on my second year as principal of VCE, I am ever grateful for this community and this opportunity. Our theme for the year is, "Together We Lead, Together We Rise," and as we think about what that looks like I am reminded of the importance of the word Together. We are all a part of the Forsyth Team and together we strive to create a place at Vickery where every single child wants to be every day. We do that in partnership with you.

Your feedback, questions, concerns, and praise are what help us know your children are thriving and connected here at Vickery.
