August 22nd, 2025 - Volume 4
Dear Viking Families,
Thank you so much for joining us at Curriculum Night this week! It was a joy to welcome you into our classrooms and share the incredible learning happening at VCE. If you weren’t able to attend, no worries—all presentations are linked below so you can still explore what your child will experience this year.
Please take a moment to review the first page of this newsletter, which includes important updates—especially about After School Activities and Precess. If you're unfamiliar with Precess, we encourage you to read the details carefully. It’s a special opportunity we piloted last year to add a little more play into our students’ day. Because staff supervision is based on sign-up numbers, we won’t be able to accept late registrations once the window closes.
Also included in this edition is the Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment survey. This tool gives us valuable insight into how we’re doing and helps us set our school’s Wildly Important Goals (WIGs) for the year. Our goal is to hear from 190 families, and your voice truly matters. Your feedback helps us continue to grow as a community igniting the joy of learning and inspiring leaders.
Before I close, I want to share one of my favorite moments I get to witness each day—car rider line. In those few seconds when you say goodbye in the morning, I see the purest form of love and hope as you send your child off to learn and grow. And in the afternoon, the joy on your child’s face when they see you again is a beautiful reminder of the deep connection between home and school. These moments are a gift, and we are honored to be part of your child’s journey.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We value your feedback and partnership—it helps us stay connected, responsive, and focused on what matters most.
With gratitude and care,
Elizabeth Ihle

Classroom Safety
In accordance with new state legislation, all classroom doors will remain closed and locked during instructional time. This helps us maintain a secure learning environment while continuing to foster connection and creativity. Teachers will actively monitor students during hallway work and small group activities, ensuring learning continues in safe and supported ways.
Exterior Doors
All exterior doors must remain closed and unpropped. New signage reminds visitors to check in at the front office-thank you for helping us keep our campus secure.
No Hats Indoors
As a sign of respect and unity, we ask that students remove hats when inside the building. This small gesture helps us maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. Students may wear their hats at recess, per teacher discretion.
️Lunch Visits Begin September 8th
We're excited to welcome families back for lunch starting Monday , September 8th! To ensure a safe and respectful experience:
All visitors must check in at the front office with Ms. Kelly.
Families may eat lunch with their child only on the stage or in the Butterfly Garden.
While enjoying this time together, we ask that adults refrain from using phones during lunch.
You're welcome to take photos of your child only, with or without yourself in the picture. Please note that photographing other students is a violation of our school policy.
Volunteer Opportunities
September also brings new opportunities to get involved! We're grateful for the many ways families support our school, and we look forward to partnering with you through volunteering. Please visit PTBoard for Viking Volunteers or see our last Viking Voice newsletter for Viking Dads opportunities. We also are launching a new platform called Partner Connect! Once you join, you can follow our school and see the many opportunities we have for various needs within our school. If you support our school, we want to partner with you and support you! 👉 Viking Dad Fridays: Thank You!
We’re thrilled with the incredible response to Viking Dad Fridays—most slots have already been taken! Thank you to all the dads who signed up and showed such strong interest in being part of this special experience.
➡️ If you’d still like to sign up, check here: bit.ly/vikingdads
Be sure to keep checking for cancellations, and watch for the next round of volunteer days coming soon!
👉 We Still Need Volunteers for Precess!
While Viking Dad Fridays filled quickly, we still need dads to help with Precess. This is an easy (and fun!) way to make a big impact at Vickery Creek Elementary—spend time outside with students during morning recess, play games, encourage teamwork, and be a positive role model.
The best part? It’s only from 7:00–7:35 AM, so you can do it before heading to work. You can sign up for as many Precess days as you’d like, and the kids love seeing Viking Dads out on the playground.

What Is the MRA?
The Measurable Results Assessment is a rigorously developed survey tool used to annually collect, analyze, and report student-, staff-, and school-level outcomes related to the focus on improving leadership, culture, and academics.
Leader in Me Schools use the MRA as they engage in continuous cycles of improvement to identify its strengths and weaknesses, develop improvement plans, and monitor progress.
The MRA measures are aligned with the highly effective practices outlined in the Leader in Me Framework. This alignment empowers schools to move from data insights to action plans and best leverage their limited time and resources to meet their most important goals.
Below are the results from our MRA Survey from Fall 2024. We focused on the three lowest categaories throughout the school year. Our goal is to have 190 people complete the MRA Survey for this year. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
