October 10th, 2025 - Volume 7
Dear Viking Families,
Welcome October! Welcome Fall! I hope you all enjoyed your week off and are eager to get back into the swing of things. First and foremost, THANK YOU. Your generosity and support during our Boosterthon this year helped us EXCEED our goal of $60k. We are looking to replace one piece of playground equipment on the K-2 playground and one on the 3-5 playground with the money this year. Students will vote soon on the piece they want. Stay tuned for more!
During the month of October we will be focusing on Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind. Language to use with your children at home can be found in the Habits at Home series you will see each month. Please vote for our Spirit of the Viking Staff Recipient that also focuses on any staff member who exemplifies the characteristics of Habit 2.
With darker mornings and ensuring safety for our students as they exit your car, it is more important than ever for you to come into our lot carefully. Staff sometimes has to park in the shared parking lot with the middle school and they have to walk across where you pull in. We will be adding lights to help assist - please be careful.
Feel free to reach out to any of our admin staff if you have any questions about anything we do here at VCE. I love to hear your thoughts and perceptions. As I have shared before, one of my core values is curiosity. To live into that value, I want to be sure you are heard and able to share ideas.
With gratitude,
Elizabeth Ihle

October - Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Precess is off to a great start!! The students have really enjoyed their morning recess time! Please remember to have your student bring their precess slips! This allows them to drop off their slip and maximize their play time! Please note that we WILL NOT have precess on Monday, October 20th or Tuesday, October 21st. We will resume precess on October 22nd and 23rd. Thank you so much for your understanding!
If you would like to volunteer for precess, we still have many open slots! When you arrive to volunteer, you will have a choice of monitoring the kickball field, gaga ball pit, or the playground! Please make sure you complete the volunteer agreement prior to volunteering.
Forsyth County voters have a long history of supporting ESPLOST (Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax), which has funded capital projects that support all schools. Every promised project from past ESPLOST referendums has been completed, ensuring students learn in safe, modern, and innovative environments. View the video above from Superintendent Mitch Young and BOE Chairman Mike Valdes for an important message about the upcoming vote for ESPLOST VII.
The proposed ESPLOST VII is not a new tax—it is a continuation of the one-penny sales tax that helps reduce the burden on property taxes by also being paid by non-residents who shop, dine, or do business in Forsyth County. If approved, ESPLOST VII will fund important safety upgrades, new schools and expansions, technology, and transportation improvements that directly benefit students and staff while keeping pace with our community’s growth.
Forsyth County voters will have the opportunity to decide on the renewal of ESPLOST during the election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Please note that employees may not work to promote or oppose ESPLOST or bond referendums during school hours or using school resources. For more information, refer to the FCS Employee Handbook or contact your supervisor.
