April 17th, 2026 - Volume 17
Hello VCE Families,
April has arrived, and with it comes a palpable energy in our hallways. This is a truly unique season in the school year—a time when we balance the focused "climb" of spring academics with the celebratory "summit" of our year-long journey. As the weather warms, we begin to shift our gaze toward summer, but not before we honor the traditions that make our community and school so special.
Our mission is to be a community igniting the joy of learning and inspiring leaders, and there is no time of year where that is more evident than now. From the buzz of upcoming field days to the planning of end-of-year class parties, we are leaning into the joy that comes from working hard and playing hard—together. You are now able to go ahead and sign up so we can pre print you a raptor badge to try and help eliminate the line to get into school for these events. All of the sign ups are in this newsletter and will be sent out by your teacher as well.
Often parents choose to check their children (and siblings) out following these parties. Our process will be the same one we have used thorugh out the year, using the RSVP"s below. (please note, these check outs are unexcused). Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up this process so plan to wait a bit while we locate and get your other child(ren). Since we adapt our schedule for these field days and class parties, many times siblings are on the playground or in pathways and it takes a little while for them to get their belongings and check out.
This month, we are focusing on Habit 8: Find Your Voice. This habit is about moving beyond the first seven habits and discovering your unique contribution to the world. It’s about finding what you are good at, what you love to do, and how that can serve others. Our final LSC meeting will be May 14th. All are invited. We are looking to bring in some new board members so if this is something you are interested in, please reach out to me. As we look to next year, please think about joining one of three parent organizations that truly support the work of our school. See this link for more information about each one and how you can contribute.
Let’s stay committed to finishing strong. Let’s keep the "joy of learning" ignited in our classrooms and the spirit of leadership alive in our hearts.
Together we Lead, Together we Rise!
Warmly,
Elizabeth

Help our 5th graders make an impact and bring comfort, joy, and distraction to these children. This service project is in memory and honor of former VCE leader, Luke Becker. Please consider donating an item for the Boredom Buster Bags - either from our Amazon Wishlist, or by grabbing an item from the suggested list on your next trip to the store. Kindly send in all donations by Tuesday, May 12th.
We are excited to share a preview of our schoolwide behavior expectations that will be implemented at VCE for the 2026-2027 school year. After gathering feedback from teachers, students, and parents, we have developed a shared set of expectations, in alignment with our Leader in Me habits and utilizing the PBIS framework, to support all of our leaders in common areas throughout the school. We are excited to encourage all of our Vikings to be Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Lead!
Congratulations to Mrs. Audrey Fuller, who was recognized as our Spirit of the Viking for March. Mrs. Fuller demonstrates Habit 7, Sharpen the Saw, consistently. She brings balance, positivity, and love into every part of her life. She is also quite the Zumba instructor, which is a great way to practice Habit 7! Congratulations, Mrs. Fuller!
