Pre-K Quarter 3

Below are listed the I Can statements for each unit. These help guide teachers in our planning as we prepare lessons knowing what students need to be doing by the end of the unit. This gives you an idea of things that you can work on at home or talk about.

Quarter 3

Unit 7:

Numbers to 10: Counting and Number Relationships

What students are expected to do:

  • I can count to 10 and beyond.

  • I can count on.

  • I can tell what number comes before and after.

  • I can identify numbers 0-10.

  • I can touch and count objects.

  • I can tell how many after I count.

  • I can remember how many even if they’re moved.

  • I can count one more.



Unit 8:

Shapes and Measurement

What students are expected to do:

  • I can talk about objects using words like large, long, short, light, heavy, and tall.

  • I can order objects by size.

  • I can line up objects to compare.

  • I can tell which object is heavier/lighter.

  • I can tell how I sorted.

  • I can sort objects into groups.

  • I can compare using words like greater than/more, less than, equal to/same.

  • I can match shapes.

  • I can identify 2D shapes.

  • I can describe shapes.

  • I can sort shapes.

  • I can describe how I sorted.

  • I can tell about shape attributes.

  • I can match 3D shapes.

  • I can tell about 3D shapes.

  • I can describe 3D shapes.


Unit 9:

Number Sets to 10 and Operations

What students are expected to do:

  • I can subitize.

  • I can match numbers to a set.

  • I can construct sets and tell how many.

  • I can count/ match to compare groups.

  • I can compare using words like greater than/less than/equal to.

  • I can put objects together to show more.

  • I can take away objects to show less.

  • I can draw to solve problems.

  • I can break apart a set of objects.

  • I can draw/show how I decomposed.

  • I can tell how many more to make 5.
