Kindergarten Quarter 1

Below are listed the I Can statements for each unit. These help guide teachers in our planning as we prepare lessons knowing what students need to be doing by the end of the unit. This gives you an idea of things that you can work on at home or talk about.

Quarter 1

Unit 1:

What students are expected to do:

  • I can count to 10 by ones.

  • I can count a set of objects to 10.

  • I can say the number name in order as I count a set of objects.

  • I can match a number to a set of up to 10 objects.




Unit 2:

What students are expected to do:

  • I can write numbers 0-10.

  • I can write the number for a set of objects up to 10.

  • I can count sets of objects to 10 and tell “how many.”

  • I can build a set of objects to 10.

  • I can count up to 10 objects in different arrangements.



Unit 3:

What students are expected to do:

  • I can write the number for a set of objects to 10.

  • I can tell the number of objects to 10 by counting.

  • I know that the arrangement of objects does not change the number of objects.

  • I know that the order I count will not change the total number of objects.

  • I can compare sets to 10.

  • I can order sets and numbers to 5.

  • I know that each number is one more than the number before.

  • I can group objects by given attributes.

  • I can count the number of objects in each group.

  • I can sort the groups by count.
