Pre-K Quarter 1

Below are listed the I Can statements for each unit. These help guide teachers in our planning as we prepare lessons knowing what students need to be doing by the end of the unit. This gives you an idea of things that you can work on at home or talk about.

Quarter 1

Unit 1:

Building Routines, Categorizing and Comparing Quantities

What students are expected to do:

  • I can sort by __________. (color, size, shape, etc.)

  • I can count/ match to compare groups.





Unit 2:

Numbers to 5: Counting, Identifying, Representing


What students are expected to do:

  • I can count to 5.

  • I can name numbers on a number path.

  • I can identify numbers 0-5.

  • I can subitize.

  • I can touch and count objects.

  • I can tell how many after I count.

  • I can remember how many even if they’re moved.

  • I can match numbers to a set.



Unit 3:

Shapes and Measurement


What students are expected to do:

  • I can talk about objects.

  • I can order objects by size.

  • I can line up objects to compare.

  • I can match shapes.

  • I can identify shapes.
