Hello, everyone. Some of you may have noticed that your Zoom application has been updated and may look different. This article will introduce the newly added functions and UI enhancements with Zoom update patch 6.3.11.
The first mention is going to look at the enhanced UI. Aside from the home screen, all Zoom tabs now have a navigation sidebar view with all the options on the left-hand side. This will allow you to navigate through items listed in the different sections (meeting chats, whiteboards, notes, documents, surveys, and clips).
Documents are new to the dashboard at the top. This feature operates like notes but with more robust features. Some of these are:
1. More formatting tools
o Adding tables
o Adding media (videos and audio)
o Files
2. Adding comments to the document
One caveat is that these files are stored on Zoom only; they cannot be downloaded. Also, since this is hosted on the cloud, no confidential information should be included in the document.
The next topic to discuss is surveys and polls. This feature requires you to be a licensed user (non-basic), and only the original host can create a poll or survey during the live meeting. If the meeting is transferred, only the pools and surveys created by the original host can be used in that meeting.
You can manage your notes, documents, polls/surveys, whiteboards, and clips in either the Zoom Workplace application on your computers when you log into it or the Zoom profile page on your browser. If you are using the app, the sections will be at the top of the application; when you log in via a browser, the options are on the left-hand side.
The last feature I will go over is sharing the screen in meetings. There is a picture-to-picture setup; new options exist to share your screen with your video offset to the side in the shared window. The first option is to share only your screen, which we usually do. Next, share your screen in the background with your video in the lower left of the share window. The third option puts your image in the top right corner with your video in the lower left. The last option does a side-by-side view on your shared screen.
Being that these changes are recent, the IT team will use these features and go in depth on these functions in a future training or Tech Bits article.
