This month Techbits is about some of the new updates to applications we use every day!
Live transcript/Close Captioning in Zoom
Accessibility is a true sign of progress! Zoom has added a live transcript in all meetings.
As a host you can now click on the CC/Live Transcript icon, then click “enable” under live transcription. Everyone will now be able to see written transcripts of those speaking
Here is an example of what the transcript looks like:
Currently, the live transcript only works in English, and does have some limitations according to Zoom that could affect the transcriptions accuracy such as background noise and volume/clarity of the speaker’s voice. Otherwise this is a great tool to have more people engage in your meeting!
Copy link to highlight
Google Chrome now allows you to copy link to highlight. Ever wanted to share a link with someone to an interesting part of an article? Now you can with this jump cut! When you highlight a particular section of a webpage, click on “Copy link to highlight.” When you paste/share it with your recipient, it will send them right to the part of the page you selected, instead of the top of the page. This is a great option to hyperlink in your documents for references or to just get to good part!
Tab Search
Lets be honest, we all have many tabs opened in multiple google chrome windows at this very moment. It can be organized chaos or productivity nightmare. If you have trouble finding your tabs quickly, Google has added a tab search feature.
In the upper right hand corner of a google chrome window, you will see an arrow facing downward. It will show you all the tabs you have opened from all the Google chrome instances. From there type in the search field what your tab was about. It will even let you know when you last interacted with it!
That’s it for this month’s TechBits! If you found this information useful and intriguing, let us know the value it provided by emailing us at techbits@episcopalrelief.org. We’ll see you next month!
