The Elk Mound football team continues to battle on the field and gets some recognition. The team won the Dunn-St. Croix Conference championship against the Spring Valley Cardinals. The other coaches have already picked the all conference players as well. They are as follows:
Brady Redwine---1st Team RB, HM Defensive End, DSC Offensive player of the year
Will Muszynski---2nd Team RB, 1st Team Defensive Line
Andrew Benson---HM Tight End, 2nd Team Defensive Line
Bryce Kasper---1st Team OL, 2nd Team Linebacker
Brett Lew---2nd Team OL, 1st Team Linebacker
Conner Mavis---2nd Team OL
Aric Jensen---HM OL
Gaelen Young---2nd Team Kicker
Rian Flynn---1st Team Defensive Back
Dylan Black---HM Defensive Back
Chris Lee---HM Defensive Line
Tyler Brantner---2nd Team Defensive End
Elk Mound is heavily represented, but there is more to the team than these awards. Those who were not mentioned still gave equally as much as those who were recognized.
"The people who didn't get conference awards still contributed to get the team ready for Fridays and the scout team is equally as important as the varsity team," stated senior Jaylen Emberson.
The team as a whole is all conference worthy, but the way they play they could be more than conference champs.
The football team most recently won the first round of the playoffs against the Mondovi Buffalos. The seven seed Mondovi had lost to Elk Mound earlier in the season and was able to get a second chance. The Elk Mound Mounders wore down the Buffalos to win the level one match up. The Mounders won 21 to 14 and advance to level 2. The Mounders will face the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser Bulldogs at home.
