Our High School Student Council was sent an email asking if we would be interested in heading up a fundraiser called Pennies for Patients. The way it would work is that it would be a penny war. Each homeroom is given a box and their job is to fill it with as many pennies and dollars bills as they can. If opposing homerooms were to drop silver coins in another homeroom, those silver coins would cancel out their money worth with the pennies and bills. Whichever homeroom has the most money raised in pennies and dollar bills at the end of the fundraiser is the winner. All of the proceeds for Pennies for Patients will be going to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their mission is to someday find a cure for blood cancer. If you ask anyone if they know someone who has been affected by cancer they would probably say yes. As a Student Council we agreed that it would be a great way to help out. We quickly jumped into preparation for the fundraiser. Our goal for total fundraising money is to reach $600, and with the amount of support from the student body we aren’t worried because we are on track to reach that goal.
