Are you interested in science or anything related to science? Then join Science Olympiad! There are no prerequisites needed prior to joining, other than a desire to learn and a will to better yourself in the subject!
For those of you who don’t know what Science Olympiad is, it’s a team of students who perform events and get scored on their performance. You can receive medals depending on how well your events went, hence the name Science Olympiad. Gold is first, silver is second, and bronze is third. However this is not the only way you can score; you will receive points for each individual event, similar to a grading rubric.
Some events are as follows: building objects, test taking, human body expos, and archeology projects. These are only a few of the available events, and you can learn about the many others at a meeting.
The club leader, Mr. Day, explained that Science Olympiad in one word, was Extraordinary. He said this because nothing you do in Science Olympiad goes to waste and everybody brings something valuable to the table. Science Olympiad is constantly growing and expanding, and adding more events than ever before! There is something for everyone.
Elk Mound’s Science Olympiad team will be participating in the meet at Boyceville on December 3.
