Lights, camera, action! This year two already amazing clubs, Yearbook and Art Club, have joined together to create the Multimedia Club. The Multimedia Club is hitting the ground running with brand new opportunities for students that students didn’t have access to before. Outside of just the yearbook, Mr. Lundgren has opened up projects such as the print shop, screen printing, and even a full-length feature film. It’s open to any student who would like to experience something great. The best part is, there’s something for everyone. Do you want to go into photography? How about graphic design? It’s all there. There’s a need for every kind of niche in this club and no experience is necessary.
Naturally, the yearbook will always take priority. The yearbook has always been an important asset to high schools everywhere. This year Shanna Smith and Jaklynn Williams are the editors in chief. The yearbook is always done completely in-house. That means it is done every year without a publisher and is completed with the hard work of students only. The jobs such as photographers, writers, copy editors, marketers, and page editors are all done by devoted students. “I think that yearbook is honestly going in a good direction. I say this year will be an extremely successful year,” Jaklynn said. Working hard with the other members of the Yearbook Club, this year’s edition is sure to keep up the expectations of the students.
One of this year's most exciting additions is the full-length feature film. The hopes are high for the first full-length feature film in Elk Mound High. Jacob Hoag is the director of the film, and with his experience in filmmaking, he’s sure to not disappoint. Screenwriting, storyboarding, location scouting and actors/actresses are just the top of the jobs that need to be set in place to create this. Creating a film from the ground up will be an impressive feat, but with the resources that the school has to offer students, it’s not impossible. After all, the only limit is what you can conceptualize.
This year will be a year of trial and error and to really be pushing the creative limits. New opportunities, new experiences are all to be anticipated. All in all, the Multimedia Club is a great extracurricular activity in which students can get involved and work as a team to be a part of something bigger.
