“If we do not vote, we are ignoring history and giving away the future.” This is a quote from Pat Mitchell, who is a well known business woman. In my opinion, voting is one of the most important things a US citizen can do, but about 35 to 60 percent don’t cast their vote.
Students should vote, because most things we vote on are about college and our future. One presidential candidate has promised to make community college free. Each candidate has promised something different for education. If you believe that community college should be free, then you should vote for that specific candidate.
Another presidential candidate has promised cuts to the department of education funding. All students should vote in what they believe in, and college education is important for all people. When you are researching what candidate to vote for, you should look at what is going to benefit your future. Voting can promise what happens in your future.
All the candidates talk about topics like student debt, and funding for education. If you are interested in going to college, then student debt and funding for it should be important to you. You can not go to college without having debt and some way of funding to go. If you are not a college student, then there are still things that are important to vote about.
Voting will determine the gun laws of each state. Each candidate has a different say on gun control. One candidate suggested that certain teachers who are educated on guns, should have one in the classroom to help with school shooting. This candidate also expanded background checks to ensure that guns were only being purchased by the proper people. If you are a family that hunts for all of your food, then this candidate will still benefit what you need. You will need guns to hunt for your family, and this candidate will not take them away from you.
Acoording to data from 2016, about 10 million people use guns to hunt. Many people around the United States hunt, and voting will insure that you can still do that. In addition to education and gun control, there are still many other things we vote for.
If you do not vote, then you are giving up your voice. On August 6, 1965, the voting act was passed. Now, people of all race, and all gender could vote on what they believe in. Before that act was passed African Americans could not vote “everywhere in America”. Now, anyone can. If African Americans were never allowed to vote, then the world would probably still be divided between African Americans and whites. Now that anyone can vote, it allows your beliefs to be heard.
Voting is all about the people’s voices. When you cast a vote, you are putting your voice and opinion out. If you did not vote, then you would be giving up your voice, and letting someone else take it away.
When you cast a vote you are allowing opportunity for yourself, and other people. Allowing new opportunities can help a person grow and develop. Every person needs to grow and develop in order to be successful. If you care about your country, your rights, and your voice, then vote.
Using your voice to vote can change the country. Voting can help your education, your rights, and can get your voice heard. As a United States citizen, you should become educated, and vote on what you think is right.
