Mrs Reynolds' Maths Group have been looking at finding the perimeter of shapes. Some of our shapes had missing side lengths so we had to learn how to calculate the missing sides before finding the perimeter.
To practice this, we needed to know how to calculate the difference between two lengths. We first used multilink so that we could 'see' and count the difference. Then we used comparing straight lines next to each other to calculate the difference in their length and finally, we applied our skills to rectilinear shapes with missing sides.
Today we learned that the Anglo Saxons and Vikings used symbols to carve messages into their belongings made of leather, wood and stone. Each symbol represented a sound. Very few people could write so this was a good way for them to communicate. We wrote our own messages using Anglo Saxon Runes and then gave them to our friends to decode!
As this week is wellbeing week, we have been thinking about how to be calm and mindful. Today, we took part in a Yoga session to stretch our bodies and rest our minds. Namaste!
We have learned how to use a Google search engine to find information online. We have learned about how to use key words and write a question to pin point the information we need. We used these skills to find the answers to a variety of questions and then applied our skills to researching the Anglo Saxons readu for our Non-Chronological Reports.
