We had a jam-packed day when we visited Colchester Castle. As well as exploring the museum, we visited the underground part of the Temple of Claudius and made a round house and Roman villa! It was a very busy day but we learned A LOT about the Romans!
After gaining some inspiration from our Colchester Castle trip, we had a go at creating mosaics. They are still a work in progress and we were surprised at how long just a small area took- especially as we were using paper and not stone!
This week in science, year 3 have been using mirrors to learn about light and reflection. We had a lot of fun trying to use mirrors to write and decode secret messages, as well as use them to guide us through mazes!
In PE this week, we imagined what it was like to be part of the Roman army!
In one of our geography lessons, year 3 looked at how land can be used for different purposes such as for transport, residential or commercial purposes. We then looked at an old map of Rayleigh and tried to spot things that were still there today and looked at how the town was also different. Then we had lots of fun browsing through photos of Rayleigh from the past, looking at how the purpose of buildings had changed.
We had a lot of fun building up to the Jubilee celebrations in our final week before half term. We created some portraits of the Queen using all things linked to being British!
