Tower Building– This is one option you may like to try.
Students work in small groups. Each group is given about 15-20 pieces of paper and one roll of masking tape. They must NON– VERBALLY construct a tower or castle using only the given supplies, within a ten minute time frame.
Discuss and Reflect:
· What was the purpose of building this tower?
· Why might non-verbal communication be as important as verbal?
· What social skills did you need to successfully build your tower?
· How did leadership develop in your group while you were building?
· Did all students participate?
· What were the feelings among your group?
· What did you learn about yourself?
