Learning Intention:
Students will understand the ups and downs of friendship, apply Friendology 101 guidelines, and practice self-compassion as a form of self-friendship.
Students will learn to recognize and categorize their worries, use strategies to calm negative feelings, and practice self-acceptance to maintain a positive mindset.
Students will strengthen their self-awareness and empathy, focusing on expressing gratitude and appreciation as they prepare for their culminating project.

Making Friends
Learning Intention:
Students will identify and describe different types of friendships in their lives.
Students will practice introducing themselves, having conversations, and asking questions to find common interests with new friends.
Students will reflect on behaviors that attract friends and apply strategies to build and maintain friendships, transitioning from strangers to friends.

Learning Intention:
Students will recognize that conflicts are a normal part of relationships and learn to accept that friendships naturally change over time.
Students will describe and demonstrate what trust and respect look like in their actions within friendships.
Students will develop strategies for managing friendships, acknowledging that each friendship is unique and that sensitivity levels vary.

Friend-o-meter
Learning Intention:
Students will identify and differentiate the qualities of healthy and unhealthy friendships.
Students will understand the importance of actions in friendships, recognizing that actions often speak louder than words.
Students will explore the feeling of being alone to build empathy and self-confidence, and will evaluate their own behavior and teamwork using a "Friend-o-meter."

Friendology: Session 5
Friendship Fires
Learning Intention:
Students will learn to differentiate between minor friendship conflicts (Friendship Fires) and intentional mean behavior, and they will acquire the step-by-step process of conflict resolution, including role-playing to practice these skills.
Students will discuss common friendship issues, practice positive reactions, and recognize the importance of addressing conflicts directly. They will learn how to talk-it-out with friends to resolve misunderstandings and disagreements constructively.
Students will explore the concept of forgiveness, reflecting on how conflicts can improve friendships. They will identify ways to maintain kindness while spending less time in unhealthy friendships and create a Friend-o-cycle using symbols to represent these concepts.
