In term 1, students engage in lessons focusing on the topics Emotional Literacy and Personal and Cultural Strengths as part of the Respectful Relationships program.
Emotional Literacy
Emotional literacy lessons assist students to identify their own emotions. Students are encouraged to describe situations where they may feel or notice these emotions and compare their emotional responses with those of their peers. Students investigate ways of making and keeping friends, including how actions and words can help or hurt others, and the effects of modifying (changing) their behaviour.
Personal and Cultural Strengths
Students are encouraged to identify and describe their personal interests, skills and achievements and reflect on how these might contribute to school or family life. Students also learn to recognise their personal strengths and make decisions around which skills they would like to develop further. They link their strengths with learning to cope with difficult situations.
