Our Positive Start Program takes place in the first week of the new school year. During this time students are involved in a range of activities designed to set them up for a successful school year. Lessons focus on building relationships, setting expectations, getting to know their students and building a growth mindset. Teachers will also focus on building resilience, discussing the importance of good physical/mental health and informing students where they can go for help if they need it.
What is the purpose of the Positive Start Program?
To allow significant time to build classroom culture.
To allow students to identify the unique qualities they have that makes them special.
To equip students with the skills they need to raise any concerns they have socially, emotionally and academically.
To develop clear understandings about the ways we wanted to be treated from both a teacher and student perspective.
To support students in their understanding of our behavioural expectations; be a learner, be responsible, be respectful and be safe.
