Safety Hand-
Circle time - have a discussion around being safe or unsafe. What does being safe look, feel, sound like?
Give example: I can say no if I don’t want to kiss or hug someone.
Brainstorm people to go to if you are feeling unsafe/uncomfortable about something. Introduce safety hand. Students to write down 5 trusted adults on their hand template. Discuss secrets, if we ever are told a secret that makes us uncomfortable we should tell someone on our safety hand.

Develop a class behaviour plan.

Modelled writing
Develop a class behaviour plan. Discuss the consequences of inappropriate behaviour or behaviour that does not reflect what has been agreed upon by the class. Use SWPBS signage as a guide to discuss expected behaviours.
Classroom Behaviour Management Plan is to be consistently applied across the school. Based on the following assumptions:
Teachers created a classroom code of cooperation about how we want to be treated and treat others. (The Ideal Classroom)
School wide values have been made clear. (School Norms)
Students have an understanding of Restorative Practices.
Step 1 - Verbal Warning / Name on board
Step 2 - Time out in own classroom or moved from distraction, Restorative conversation with teacher.
Step 3 - Time out (15-20mins) in buddy classroom with work to complete. Restorative conversation with teacher at break time.
Step 4 - Telephone parent/carer, record on Compass (minors), complete a Behaviour Events Form (majors and if leadership called to intervene)
Step 5 - Discuss behaviour at PLT meetings and with leadership.
