In early years maths, division is explored as sharing. There are two fundamental strategies for sharing:
Sharing by ones, eg. when a dealer gives one card to each player at a time, until all cards have been shared evenly.
Sharing by groups, eg. when a dealer deals 7 cards to each player at a time, until all cards have been shared evenly.
At home you can practise sharing by ones or groups with games, toys, fruit, and other household objects. It is okay to have a remainder (one or some left over), as long as the sharing is even.
