The Science Extension Course is an advanced course that will develop higher order thinking skills and enhance students’ problem solving skills. Students choosing this course will develop their working scientifically skills in depth through research projects and scientific experiments.
The course will extend the Science course into further depth, while providing students the skills and knowledge needed to progress into Science subjects in Year 11 and 12. Enrichment and extension projects and activities, such as those run by the Science Association of New South Wales may also be available for students to participate in.
Students wishing to study Science in Stage 6 (Chemistry, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Physics and Investigating Science) are advised to undertake this course. Extension topics covered in this course will provide students with a strong platform for success in Stage 6 Science.
Coursework
Coursework includes project based learning, using technology, working scientifically and problem solving.
